I spoke with the CoM VP of Marketing!! YIPPEE! We had a wonderful conversation about different aspects of the potential convention. The both of us were full of enthusiasm, and truly she seemed to love the idea. She is going to discuss it in a meeting this week, and respond to me hopefully before the end of the week.

Through her encouragement, we have a few questions we would like answered in order to better organize our thoughts on who would be interested in joining the convention. Please take a moment and answer some questions, and please feel free to discuss ideas that you may have that are not mentioned.

1. Would you be able to attend in the US.
2. What would you like to see out of a convention held by your peers.
3. When would it be ideal for you to participate (ie next summer, this winter etc)
4. Would you be interested in sharing rooms in order to save money?
5. LOCATION! We have narrowed it down to Vegas or Chicago, would either of these places interest you?
6. How long? IE weekend, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days...week???


That is all the questions for now.....if we think of more, we will be adding them. But please, keep this positive note. There are many of us working on this, and would love to have some great positive feed back! This could be an incredible opportunity! Please let us know any other ideas you may have that could make this happen!

Yeah... I'd rather go dancing too or even just sit in a lounge bar listening to some good music and talk. I hate girly movies!

Yes, you can be thankful I have 2 boys and not a girl in sight... she'd be lost in this family if she were a girly girl!

Although... a slumber party idea might be good. Complete with games like "whoever falls asleep first gets their hand dipped in warm water".

Mmmm....I don't even know how to respond to that. I would personally prefer to go out dancing. We will figure it out. There is going to be such a diverse group of people there. But really, all of the plans depend on how many people are planning on coming, and how many speakers we will have. This is just the beginning.

The amount of speakers and time you have does really depend on the amount of people who are going to attend. Perhpas creating a poll would help. I know this is kind of a poll but, I mean a poll like on the right side of your screen.

The more years your do it, the more that people will come and the more things you can do and so on.

OH OH I GOT IT! The last night will be sappy girly movies (and yes, we all like them! admit it!), popcorn, pj's and slippers, like a big slumber party. That would be fun.

It all depends on how many people show up vs how many speakers. We are hoping to have enough people attend and volunteer time to speak, and people can pick out what they would like to do for themselves. Which topics interest them the most. If it is a 3 day convention, the hope is to have 2 days of convention time for a given amount of time (6 hours? 8??? once again depends on the amount of people and topics) and the third day strictly chatting and having fun. These are just ideas that are not strictly in place, and can change at any time.

Even though I live in the USA, No I would not be able to attend simply because, I got to school year around even in the Summer. I have zero time off.
2. What would you like to see out of a convention held by your peers.
I enjoy getting different craft ideas from other moms, things I may not have thought of. A clothing swap would be helpful, maybe a food drive, toy donation, dinner idea swap. Possibly a small cooking contest with all entires being featured in the annual CoM's Cook Book and the winner gets a prize of a spa trip in their hometown.
3. When would it be ideal for you to participate (ie next summer, this winter etc)
You will probably have better chances of getting decent room rates, convention hall rates and other fees in "off" times, Spring or Winter.
4. Would you be interested in sharing rooms in order to save money?
I don't see who wouldn't?
5. LOCATION! We have narrowed it down to Vegas or Chicago, would either of these places interest you?
Chicago is going to be more affordable and much eaiser to find rooms. Vegas has the best cocktails though!
6. How long? IE weekend, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days...week???
I would say 3 days to a week depending on how many exibits were avaliable, how organized it is and how long we can find babysitters :)

When I say organized what I mean is are all of the exbits going to up all week or different things on different days? Is there going to be random grouping? For example anyone in Group A goes to Arts and Crafts on Monday Group B goes to a CPR Certification on Monday, Gorup C goes to a cake decorating contest on Monday...you see where I am going with this right?
