I am a joker, I am always being sarcastic and joking around - I love comedy movies but lately I think comedy movies are lacking in such a way that most of the new comedy movies really are not funny.

This whole STUPID FUNNY theme is getting really old, really fast. I don't want to watch tits and drugs for an hour and a half. I want to laugh, if I wanted to look at whores I'd watch a porno and if I wanted to 'spend time' with stoners I'd be a stoner.

Jim Carrey can be pretty funny, Robin Williams, Adam Sandler too, there's some comedic romance movies that are alright but for the most part the actual comedy movies these days are all about whores and drugs and it's so boring.

Seth Rogan is a pretty funny guy but all of his movies bore the hell out of me because it's all about whores and drugs and there might be some funny parts but for the most part... whores and drugs.

This American Pie Harrold and Kumar Dude Where's My Car Stupid Funny phase is so over to me. I watched Funny People last night and it was a good movie! Long, but good. There was 1 scene with tits and 1 scene with drugs and both were completely unnecessary in the movie but also not a big deal either. Anyone else find the stupid funny comedy more stupid than funny?

lol Amanda...that's one of my fave quotes from that movie...love it. Jenny...I LOVED superbad as well....especially the part when he talks about "drawing dicks"...omg I had a stomachache from laughing so hard! Plus I have a crush on Seth Rogan ( I have ever since 40 yr old virgin) and the other dude..the one from snl....so adorable.

Joy....those Sandberg/Timberlake shorts on snl are HILARIOUS! Timberlake really needs to think about doing comedy....I also loved when he did that one w/Beyonce...."we're the dancers"...lolol..too funny.

Oh yeah...and 40 yr old virgin is a classic!!! sooooo funny...I love when he said her kiss tasted like shrimp sandwich...lololol

Employee of the month w/Dane Cook wasn't bad....especially when the indian guy came out to talk to him, was being all philosophical and then farted...lol...that was hilarious

Dan in Real Life...LOVE that movie...especially the dancing scene in the bar

Love Madea movies...Tyler Perry is genius in that character...she/he is freaking hilarious...

I also LOVE stand up comedy..some of my faves are Jim Gaffigan...Lewis Black, Wanda Sykes, Katt Williams (although he needs to stop using the *n* word) Earthquake, Kings of Comedy, a few more I can't remember right now.....

best in show WAS hillarious! i loved that one. i think the funniest movie ever is robin hood men in tights, it is sort of a spoof movie but it was back before those were the norm. i find that a lot of comedies these days have a couple funny lines or parts but the rest of the movie sucks!
i do think the first american pie was funny, old school and wedding crashers crack me up, dodge ball, the hangover movie, forgetting sarah marshall, and role models were all funny too. and while the title sucks, zack and miri make a porno was actually really funny! i also thought juno was pretty funny

I have to be honest, I never saw the funny side of Napleon Dynamite. Neither did my partner. We turned it off prob about half way through as we thought it was weird

I've been really disappointed in a lot of movies lately too. I was starting to wonder if I had lost my sense of humor or something, because everyone else seemed to be laughing their asses off in the theatre while I could only manage a grin. The last time I remember really laughing hard at the theatre was for Wedding Crashers. I also love movies like Little Miss Sunshine, and recently I saw Away We Go and really liked it. I'll have to try Sunshine Cleaning...haven't seen that yet. And I wasn't going to bother watching Funny People, but after reading what some of you said, I might have to give it a try! Has anyone seen A Christmas Carol yet? I saw it a couple weeks ago in 3D at the IMAX and I was super disappointed. I always love 3D and that keeps me smiling for a while, but I could barely sit through the whole movie and even nodded off at one point. I've never actually read the book, but the language seemed like they were sticking pretty close to the original and it seemed so boring and depressing. I can't imagine that kids would like it much.

Land of the Lost = Will Ferrel = BORING. I really, really, really do not find Will Ferrel funny.

The Night At The Roxbury had funny parts the first time I watched it, after that, BORING.

Pineapple Express had it's funny points but over all wasn't that great.

Zack & Miri Make A Porno, haven't even bothered to watch it.

Knocked Up was funny but predictable

Seth Rogan can be funny - he was awesome in Funny People but for the most part he's seriously lettin me down!!!!!

Austin Powers - I don't find even remotely funny.

Ace Ventura was funny, the first 2-3 times, it's not anymore.

Liar Liar, Dumb and Dumber.

There's that new movie comin out on the 18th with Sarah Jessica Parker, What About The Morgans? Or something like that... that looks funny, I wanna see that. Chances are it will be stupid though.

The Whole Nine Yards & Sequel - THOSE were FUNNNNNNNNNNY !!!!!!

Matthew Perry = FUNNY lol

Oh man, I forgot about Tropic Thunder! Damn Robert Downey Jr. is hilarious! I also loved Kiss Kiss Bang Bang...And I like off-beat, dark comedy like Little Miss Sunshine and Sunshine Cleaning.

Yes, I've seen Waiting for Guffman too. Also really really funny although I prefer Best in Show. Probably cause I just love dogs. Even though it's not really about the dogs. I'll have to watch Tropic Thunder Joy. I've had it sitting on my DVR for quite some time now. Story of my life. I have Daily Shows going back to May ..... the joys of being a mom.

I LOVE Christopher Guest!  I think the best "Mockumentary" is "Waiting for Guffman"?  Have you seen that?  OMG...HILARIOUS!  A lot of the same cast as "Best in Show"...if you haven't seen it, you must!

comedy is my favorite movie genre..we watched the hangover last night.. it was entertaining and kind of funny.. some of my favorite comedy movies that i can think of at this moment would be - clerks, the birdcage, dumb and dumber, anchor man, ace ventura pet detective, forgetting sarah marshal and napoleon dynamite.. and i love cartoon comedy like Madagascar and shrek,
i don't mind a bit of boobs and drug references..but your right it is a common theme in most comedy's lately...perhaps writers are running out of creative original ideas?
I want to hire observe and report and funny people from the video store next...

I love comedies but haven't seen a good one in a while, I'll have to check out Funny People. The last movie I saw that killed me laughing was Bench Warmers. That was quite a while ago.

[deleted account]

Yeah I hate it. I turned off Anchorman 20 minutes into the movie, and I haven't even tried watching the other Will Ferrell movies (save The Producers and Stranger than Fiction, which were admittedly pretty good). Bathroom humor doesn't interest me. It's often more gross than funny.

And Esther, I think Zoolander is covertly smart. It's satirical. There are stupid gags, but there's actually a point there...The movie is *doing* something.

I think that's my problem with stupid funny...It doesn't accomplish anything. I want to walk away from a movie going "hmm" because I discovered something new or looked at something in a new way. I like to think rather than zone out.

Superbad! I seen at the theatre and laughed so hard I almost peed. I had to watch it again to catch the rest of the jokes. I just lost it on the scene of drawing penis creatures.

Most of the newer comedies have sucked. About the funniest movie I have seen lately was Role Models...that was friggin hilarious. The role playing scenes cracked me up and the kid who played the little boy about made me pee my pants. I have a thing for Paul Rudd and Jason Segal...I love that intelligent sarcastic obvious sense of humor. Forgetting Sarah Marshall , I Love You Man and The Ten cracked me up. If you have not seen The Ten....it is a comedic take on the Ten Commandments...hilarious.

I am not a big fan of most romantic comedies I tend to find them blatantly obvious.

I have to admit I love....Zoolander..I know but it was so stupid I thought it was funny. The scene with the models at the gas station...orange mocha frappucinos.

Once upon a Time I found Jim Carrey funny but then all his movies started to look like movies he had already done and I started thinking didn't I already see this...wait was that Liar Liar or Yes Man...pretty much the same thing and niether was funny at all.

A freind of mine who is a professional comic in NY(Dan Fontaine..Substantial Comedy...he is hilarious..he points out the blantant ironies in life)...he recommended Funny People so I watched it despite the bad reviews...He was right and I liked it.

I am not a fan of Dane Cook..something about that guy makes me want to punch him in the face and call it a day.

I did find Talladega Nights and Stepbrothers hilarious. I frequent Funny or Die.com a great deal. There is some funny crap on there.... Drunken history and between the Ferns with Zack....funny.

I adore Flight of the Conchords..those dudes are brilliantly hilarious. I love the Sugarlumps song from last season, cracks me up everytime I see that video.

The Andy Sandberg and Justin Timberlake music videos on Saturday Night Live are also funny. I think Andy Sandberg is pretty funny guy.

Office Space is probably one of my all time faves.

All those spoof movies are HORRIBLE.

Eric Bana = Viggo Mortensen hot - just sayin.

I am not a fan of Ben Stiller, even remotely. The only movies that he's in that I have actually enjoyed watching are the Night At The Museum movies.

That's one thing I hate about comedies these days - they're either Stupid or they're Romantic comedy or they're 'kid show' comedy. There's not that many FUNNY movies coming out anymore. And even now I'm havin a freakin hard time tryin to think of any!

The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Renyolds - it was ok but predictable.
Bride Wars with Kate Hudson and that other chick - it was ok but predictable.
Chuck and Larry with fat guy and funny guy - boring and predictable.
Good Luck Chuck with Dane Cook - I LOVE DANE COOK - boring and predictable.
He's Just Not That Into You with all those losers - it was ok but predictable.
Observe & Report with Seth Rogan - STUPID.
Paul Blart Mall Cop with fat guy - it was ok but predictable.
Role Models was funny.
The Hangover was funny.
The Ugly Truth was funny but predictable.
Year One was ok not as funny as I had thought it was gonna be but ok.
Adam Sandler is getting old - his movies are generally pretty funny but predictable.
And anyone who is anyone is in an Adam Sandler movie...

I'm totally sick of the spoof movies too. Distaster Movie, Scary Movie # ???? lame. Over it.

What I'm really sick of is all those spoof movies like "Meet the Spartans" and shit like that. Soooooo stupid. I don't need to pay to watch stuff like that, if I wanted a big laugh I'll just turn on Fox News (ohhhhhh...sorry, couldn't help it).

I saw Funny People and thought it was really good...it lost a little steam at the end, but overall, I enjoyed it.

Well, I liked the first American Pie. I think it was still original at the time. I also liked the first Harold & Kumar. After that it got old fast. I have no idea why everyone thought Superbad was such a funny movie. I thought it was superbad indeed. I like smart comedy too, but I have to be honest, I laughed my head off at Zoolander. Which really re-defined stupid. But it was still very very funny. When I saw the promo for Old Dogs though I could only roll my eyes. SOOOOOO lame.

YES!!! I agree...Funny People was pretty good...i had heard terrible things about it, and almost refused to see it...but, I did, and I'm glad. I'm sure that the reason it got bad reviews is because it WASN'T stupid-funny! A movie CAN be funny and still make you think...IMO!
