Hey ladies -- As much as I like a debate to the next person - can we just have an open discussion board?? Let's just chat, spill it out, talk about life in general, etc. etc. I'd love to get to know everyone, and have an ongoing chat -- we seem to get into little chats all the time in other conversations. Let's make this conversation a non-stop chatter.

So... where can we begin? How is everyone doing today? What do you have going for you?

Im sitting here, finishing out breakfast, and basically have housework, and some paperwork to do for the day. Had a small blow-out with my husband this morning, but was able to work it out. Im extremely stressed out about the holidays - making sure everything will work out - get the kids what they need. Bills gotta get pushed out this week, and focusing on what we need to buy for the house also.

What are you doing today?

Wow, so many things going on with everyone! Cleaning so far takes the charts at #1 thing everyone is doing! Wth? hehehehe Well, thought Id have a great day - and ended up having to take care of my 8mo. who was puking today! Not fun!! I actually was quite scared about it at first, being so little - but the nurses walked me through what I need to watch for and stuff - he only puked a few times - the poor babe - was probably wondering what the heck was going on! Gave him some pedialite - and he finally slept for about a good hour or so - he seems good right now - but a few more hours and we will know for sure! Goes to show, it doesnt matter how many plans you place or schedule - things ALWAYS happen and change it all!
Good luck Lindsay and Lacye with schooling and grades!!
Jennifer - do you guys have a Rent a center nearby?? Its nice for times like these - you basically "rent to own" appliances, furniture, etc. and they usually work with most people as long as you have a job, and sometimes they want a co-signer or references -- We've gotten a small chest freezer, big chest freezer (as the more kids we had ;) lol), couches, stereo, computers, washer and dryer too -- we just pay so much a month on it - has worked out GREAT for us!!

@Heather - there are def. times that i feel a burning can be needed! lol but then i get through my junk - or at least most of it, and i can have some peace of mind for a while. I will have to check that book out - sounds like it would be really good! You could send me the cupcakes and cookies - it would save me on having to bake! LOL Not sure what i want to make this year - we usually do M&M cookies, Scotcharoos: aka rice krispies made with butterscotch chips, and chocolate icing on the top! YUM! And then reg. rice crispies too.

My mom was always crafty with us - we would make corn flake cripsies - color the marshmallow mix with green food coloring - and then shape the corn flakes (after mixing them in marsh.) into wreaths, and then decorate with cinnamin red hots (as berries) -- delicious treat too!.

@Tara - you sound like another busy woman like the rest of us! How did you leave your bank card at the grocery store?!!

@Meghan - good that you are recovering! Does not sound good at all!! Definatly get your rest!

Home-made cheesy mac: fry up hamburger, boil up elbow noodles - when done ( I add) butter to the noodles after drained, mix milk and cheese of choice (chedder here) and mix over heat til cheese is melted, add the hamburger, let it mix together - and there ya go -- not the BEST dish out there - but fast, easy and good. (ps - obviously add seasoning to your liking).

Welll I finally feel good with my accomplishments this week - got the whole living room scrubbed, dusted, rearranged and painted! I love it! I painted it a dark chocolaty color - almost looks like giant hershey chocolate bar walls in here - im almost tempted to break off a peice to see... hahahah jk -- i really love it, and it pops out my mocha colored couches and wood furniture. Next we get to do the bathroom and the kitchen. Not sure what color the bathroom will be - thinking of going like a creamy color. Kitchen, Im doing a green - kind of a dark olive-y green color - not quite sage.... anyways - i think it will be a fresh color for in the kitchen.

Today im slacking away though - painting, cleaning, moving furniture took me about 7 hours to do, and i had to do it myself (hubby was at work). So im pretty shitted out today ;)

kids are all running little colds, so boogars are my pet peeve for the day - yuk! my poor kids!! i hope this too shall pass! Not too much else going on - racking my brain on what i want to make for supper, and planning out my grocery list for tomorrows shopping - i cant wait!! i shop by myself, its my break away from home and kids - so Im really excited!!

Chat more soon - V

Veronica - Yeah,.book club is fantastic. Good opportunity to meet like-minded people anyways. This month we're reading "Expecting Adam" which I believe is about a mom's experience with her down's syndrome child, but I haven't got my copy yet. We have extra reading time because of the holidays so I don't think I'll start it until January.

Party was good. Now I have a headache and an excess of treats around the house. Egg nog to feed an army, over 300 cookies in my freezer and a pile of cupcakes in the fridge. Oh dear.

Now it's my breather before getting ready for company. It seems in my house that the crap that doesn't have a home just gets moved from room to room to room. Right now I have a pile of stuff in my basement hallway because I cleared out one of the guestrooms. Now the crap needs a permanent residence. Does anyone ever get the urge to just burn down the house and start again, or is that just me?

Today:
Woke up too early (the sun wasn't up that's too early for me). It was -22 Celsius outside which for you non-metric people is the equivalent of "Brrrr.Fucking Cold" outside.
Made breakfast, did math work, finished our read aloud, packed snacks for playgroup and then realized I don't have my bank card. Off on 40 minute round trip to the grocery store where I left it last night. Then off to playgroup late. Had a good chat with the local mommies, then headed down to the library to return books and movies and get more. Then home to make lunch, tried to get the baby to nap, but no go yet. Gotta get something on for dinner, clean up, do some more laundry (always laundry in our house) and then after dinner I'm taking the 3 girls to a play at one of the churches in our community. Then home and everyone to bed. Ahhh.. is it bed time yet??

Hello Veronica, Just got off a long day at work and am wondering if the last 12 years has been worth it, and whether hating my job, despising my father and brother for the past year is worth it.... Maybe someone can just give their perspective from an outsiders point of view.

Yep, still Wednesday here too! That dinner sounds good, you should post the recipe :) Well, I'm getting ready to bathe the kid soon then put him to bed. Probably take a shower, get my warm jammies on (it's freezing here!) and watch a movie with the hubby. "Planning" on going to be early tonight....we will see :)

Wednesday finally winding down (yes, its wednesday yet here in the States) - so Id like to make a shout out to our future friends (those already into Thursday :) lol) from your past friends (those of us still stuck in Wednesday :) lol)
Whats on the menu for supper? I made a homemade, cheesy mac with hamburger - turned out good, and the kids scarfed it down. Got the carpet scrubbed with some disinfectant - and about 5 loads of laundry down - probably 6 more to go! If you choose to have lots of kids - get prepared for major laundry!!! hehehe Kitchen and bathroom are last on my list -- thankfully my hubby stayed home from work to help out with the kids, so we can really get the rest of the housework done, kids bathed, and down to bed. What is everyone else up to?

I'm taking a breather after spending the whole morning cleaning. Have some ladies and kids coming over for afternoon tea and then I'm hosting my book club Christmas party tonight. I think I take on too much. Was up all night last night baking cookies and cupcakes. So yeah...still have to do the lunch dishes and quick clean the bathroom and get dressed and I have an hour to go. So naturally I am on the computer.

Ebony thank you and way to go to your boy! =) I'm sure he's going to do great with it, he's only 8 and doing awesome!

Veronica, I don't know. They attend Ferrer Martial Arts here in Saskatoon. It's a family business, they immigrated here from the Philipines but I'm sure if you look around where you are you might be able to find something. I do know it's not widely practiced. There's a lot of the other forms of martial arts in the city but this one is the only Filipino one.

I was LOL'ing at Jocelyn's naughty Christmas crafts.

I need to run now though. Of course once I get it working again, it's time to leave. I'll pop back later though. I'm always floating around somewhere. haha.

Ebony:Yea they were big in the day :) I could imagine the scene - kid gets hurt, mom whips ass of the other kid - hehehehehehe moms first instinct!

Amie - Mano Mano sounds amazing!! Im going to have to see what there is around our area for something similar - my mom had us in karate when we were kids - I loved it! Not only for self-defense, but a great work out for mind, spirit and body!!

What is the website? Maybe it will have places they teach it??

Mano Mano is a form of Martial Arts from the Philippines.

"Mano-Mano is a well rounded system of self defense that practices boxing, kicking, grappling, ground fighting and weapon awareness. It is a combination of three styles of Filipino Martial Arts including Sikaran (foot fighting), Boksing (filipino boxing), and Dumog (self defense grappling)".

That's from the website where they attend. They've had a lot of fun with it. Our oldest is up for her first belt promotion this weekend. =) They started in late September. She got her invitation to try last week. She's excited and has been practicing a lot.

THANKS HANNAH!
Its nice to see he has the talent to do this…. He has won 11 matches and has lost none (Yet)
He got to varsity by beating the kids on his team for the spot.

But last weekend on Saturday, he got hurt for the first time. Since he is on the Varsity he went up against experienced kids, well the one kid did some kind of move on him, and my son landed on his head in a headstand fashion…My heart dropped and I wanted to run out on the mat, call the home thing off, scoop him up and leave that place. I understand he will be hurt…but it’s still horrible to see it.
My son was shocked and you could see he was in pain, but he got right back up and finished the kid.
My mom who is a over protective grandparent… (She will fight kids over her grandkids…LOL) Had to leave the gym, she was livid and wanted him to stop.
So I told her I would have him take up knitting instead :-0)

But always a crazy task! You sound like one busy mama - i havent even thought about baking yet! What is Mano Mano??

@Erin: Kudos to you for the nursing persuit - I tried that route, and backed out and fast. Im just not cut out for that line of work at all! I care about people, but I have a bodily fluid issue - with my own kids, its different - probably cause their mine! but other people... yuck! I wish you the best in your endeavors!

On occasion I do! I take Conner to a swim group and last year I got the letter of one of the other little boys there, Jack. He freaked when he got his letter! He thought it was the greatest thing ever ^_^.
A couple years ago, this one little girl only wanted a bell from my sleigh because she KNEW I existed because believing is seeing. So I went out and bought her the biggest jingle bell I could find and mailed it to her. I'm a big suck lol
For crafty-ness this year I am making slightly naughty Christmas themed cross stitches and Scrabble wall art (you take a scrabble board and spell out all these important words [like kids names, or words like patience, integrity etc] with the scrabble tiles. You glue them down, put the board in a picture frame [without glass] and you have a very meaningful present. They look great. I made three plus one for myself too :P ) I can upload a pic of one of them to COM if you would like to see one.

I need to take our 3 year old to Pre-K after lunch. Our older two are already at school. They have their Choir performance today and tonight. Tonight will be tight since I need to pull them out of Mano Mano early and take them to the school so they're on time.

I'm baking cookies this afternoon, one more set of cookies and one more pan of bars and I'm done Christmas baking. Then I need to finish my secret santa present and send that out at the end of the week. I need to make up the christmas trays for family and send them out at the same time.

Our youngest will be napping this afternoon while the older ones are at school, so that gives me time. To bake and finish up. Start supper when I get back from dropping the off too.

Plus there's the mandatory back and forth on CoM's I need to read. LOL

I need to phone the fireplace inspector back and confirm the appointment on Friday and give him directions. It's the last thing with our new house and then I can just forget about it until the new year when I start packing. ugh! I hate packing. haha.

ha ha Hannah - i end up doing the same thing - instead of getting something done, im drowning myself into COM! lol love it here - so many different walks of life - enjoy many women's company, stories, and the heated discussions too!
Ethics class.. I sorta remember that - i had to do that class when i went for my business assoc. - must not have been very exciting that i cant remember it - what are you doing to school for, Erin?? And trust me, I completely understand the 'neglect' when i was in college (which i did online from home) i had sooo many assignments and papers to write - lots of stuff sat - i had to have my sisters come and help me out with my house, and my kids!! It was very grueling! And to top it off, my hubby was laid up with surgery when i first started, and then he was gone for work for almost a year! It was very hard - but I made it through -- then get out in the real world, and absolutely nothing for work!! That really pissed me off -- glad to be a stay at home mom - doing some bus. on the side -- quite enjoy this very much. I never thought I would be a mom - in fact, I hated kids -- but now I love being a mom - and I love my children soo much! Being home can have its downfalls with socialization - but now that the kids are in school and doing stuff with church, Ive been meeting more people -- and thanks to COM Ive met more! haha!
