Ok, so my husband is a chef. At least one person in his restaurant has a confirmed case of H1N1. Others have symptoms. The confirmed case is still showing symptoms, but they are still working tonight, even though the owner made the health department aware of the diagnosis yesterday. I called the health department, who called the owner, who said it was taken care of. According to my husband, the owner then came into the restaurant (a rarity!) and laughed about it. I called the health dept again but they were closed, so I called OSHA, and left a message on a constantly reviewed line. I don't want the hubby bringing this virus home to my 8.5 month old. The vaccine won't be available where we are for almost 2 more weeks! What would you do? Are there more immediate channels that it would be appropriate to go through?

Sorry for asking here, but the vast majority of you guys are smart and have lots of opinions to share with me on this, I'm sure.

Ok, this is going to sound to weird, but start taking vitamin c and go to a herbal store and buy echinacea with golden seal. Echinacea helps boost the immune system, as does vitamin c. Make sure you are washing your hands frequently and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. And the owner of the restaurant sounds like a retard. If we even show the slightest symptoms of having the flu, we're not even allowed to be in the parking lot at my work.

My entire family has had the H1N1 flu already...not the vaccine...the actual FLU and let me tell you ladies...this thing is no joke. My sister was first, then 3 of her 4 children..(she's got one who never gets sick...it's creepy almost)...then my daughter, then my mother, then me, then my sis in law, then my niece. It is INCREDIBLY contagious...it's spreading through NC like wildfire...best advice is get tamiflu right away! It was a very weird illness...first I got the worst chills in history...literally had to bite my lip to keep from biting my tounge off...fever went sky high, heart rate was very rapid...and the strangest thing...my insides were quivery. That's the only way to describe it...I've talked to others who've had it (which is pretty much anyone in contact with us during that tinme) and they said the same thing. It makes ur insides feel like jello...weird. I got it real bad in my chest...was on a nebulizer for over a week, my daughter on an inhaler for 2 weeks. My daughter's fever reached 105 within 6 hours of showing symptoms with projectile vomiting...I had her in the docs the next morning! Then started the domino effect w/the rest of us. I will be first in line for that friggin vaccine next year let me tell you!!

btw....ALL of the kids in contact with us...PLUS their parents and siblings had the flu within a week. I've never seen anything so contagious before!!
