Does anyone know what happens if you are diagnosed with Bi-Polar and you do not take your MEDS?

Should these people be "committed" or sent to the psycho ward on a 51/50? Do you know anyone who has reached their limit and is unable to function as a wife and mother?

You are absolutely right. She has other issues and she has gone to jail twice this year for spousal abuse. She treats her kids like shit...swears at them, freaks out and breaks things. She would not even take her kids to school.....Auntie would come over to take them. She didn't help them with homework, make dinner or do laundry. Basically she just stayed in her room and caused trouble on CM. She is now gone from the home, as I had mentioned, but it is very difficult to get the legal system to do anything.

My step-kids' mom is bi-polar and doesn't take her meds. She doesn't act as well as my husband and I would like, but is not as bad as some "healthy" people that do not have this disorder.

Bipolar is a complex illness. There are many different symptoms and several different types of bipolar disorder. Just a diagnosis of Bi-Polar is not enough to have a person committed. But if she is being abusive and not taking care of herself or the kids, then charges should be filed and action needs to be taken to keep her away from the kids until she gets help.

I know someone who is supposed to take Abilify, Zoloft and Lithium but refuses. She is now held up in a Hotel room and no where to go EXCEPT to court and back for Domestic Abuse and Divorce proceedings filed by hubby. She can only see her kids 4 hours a week AND ONLY IF SHE TAKES HER MEDS.......but she won't! She will probably try to lie about taking them because she is so out of touch with reality. Does anyone have anyone they know like this?
