Does Facebook belong in classrooms?

[deleted account]

LOL, that is hilarious. What ever happened to teaching children how to communicate FACE TO FACE? One of the things they thought it could be used for was classroom discussions. Hello, shouldn't classroom discussions be held in the CLASSROOM?! Don't get me wrong, I'm just as addicted to FB and my cellphone as everybody else, but there is a time and a place and school isn't one of them.

NOPE! There's a time and a place for everything, and FB in teh classroom is NOT one of them. Ummm, ever hear of cyber bullying and how fast rumors can spread? Thankfully, every social media site and instant messaging site is blocked in my school, and for a very good reaosn. We are a high school that every kid and every teacher uses laptops. We're *hopefully* teaching proper netiquette and expanding on authentic research skills. But they can play Bejewled Blitz, Farmtown, and Casino games on their own time.

No. I don't see why it is necessary. My son's school has a network that actually blocks all of these sites from being accessed, and I totally agree with that.

After all, they can get all their "social networking" at me it sounds ridiculous for them to sit there and chat to each other via computer, and catch up with one another's statuswhile at school, when honestly, they can "social netwrok" face-to-face with real people......
