Does pizza go bad?

I know it goes bad, really. But my husband and I had a talk yesterday. We were out with the kids and he asked if I put the leftover pizza away from lunch. Hmmm....nope. It's still on the stove. He said that's fine, it's always good. At least until it's growing mold and disgusting. You can always heat it up to kill anything that might be growing on it.

I know this is a bachelor view! I'm certain of it! But how about a parenting one? I don't have a problem tossing some in the microwave after a couple hours, but eating it cold after 3 days? Not so appetizing. And letting my kids eat it? NOOOO, although I'm sure they'll hit that stage, too.

We have to put loaves of bread in the fridge or freezer in summer or else it will go mouldy sitting on the bench after a day.

That's what the fridge is for. But then I live in South Africa its far too hot to leave anything out for too long.

:) Cool Whip does not ever go bad, and if you leave it outside in the sun it turns into PLASTIC. It's only 1 molecule different from a polymer and that reaction only takes a bit of heat. So what's it doing in your gut?

Honey also doesn't spoil, even after 3000 years, and it's a wonderful antibiotic.

I'll eat honey but you can't pay me enough to eat Cool Whip.

If it was sitting out since lunch time - it's fair game. After 3 days it's going in the trash. Then again - who the hell has pizza sitting around for 3 days?!? EWW!!!!

Every now and then pizza gets accidentally left out over ngiht. usually the last 1-2 slices. But, it's still left out over night! You never know what bugs might fly by, land on it, and fly off even if it's in a closed box! We toss it!

If it stays out overnight or all day, as in for some reason we got pizza first thing in the morning, I would throw it away. If I am not willing to eat it, then I don't feed it to my son.

I know lots of people who leave pizza out overnight and then eat it for breakfast or lunch the next day. I personally, don't care to eat food that has been sitting out for more than a couple of hours. Any leftovers that are in the fridge for more than 3 days I will not touch and will toss out.

OMG I'm so bad for that! Seriously, don't think I'm gross or anything but I will eat pizza in the morning after it's been left on the stove the night before. I actually prefer it that way and my husband thinks i'm weird.

We don't really get pizza very often. I'm not a huge fan. But I do love day old pizza.... I know it's disgusting.
I'm ashamed.

Hehe I would be concerned about eating something that can't spoil. What's it made out of- plastic?

My husband gets sick but I NEVER get sick from food. It's ridiculous. We still throw things out if it's been sitting out overnight accidentally.

EWWW, NO gross. A couple of hours like you said ok. But you have to refrigerate the stuff before it walks away on it's own.

I agree with your hubby lol.
I have eaten pizza for breakfast that was left out over night with no ill effects. So have the kids.
It DOESN'T go bad :P

Pretty much the same story as you & Nikki here. I would definitely pass. If it sat out a while, it's in the trash. Hubby would just do a "smell test" and then eat it. Last week he ate a jar of pea soup his mom brought us at Christmas. And he didn't feel a thing. Not even a twinge in the tummy. Yuck!

Nikki - that's funny:).
Amy...I'm very much like Nikki when it comes to leftovers. If the pizza was left out for more than an hour or two, I would probably dump it, although it would probably still be fine.

No, I am pretty anal with food for Issy and I. I tend to avoid nasty food poisoning at all costs. If I have leftovers, I will either freeze them or place them in the fridge straight away and only use the thawed ones within 24 hours.

My hubby on the other hand has a stomach made of steel, I swear he is so disgusting he can eat anything. When I first met him he used his microwave as a storage device for leftover Chinese and pizza and would graze on it for days and days afterwards. blah.
