I have to import snow from up north or rent a snow making machine if I want to see snow here. Our 'major smowstorm' last year was about 1 -2 inches, and it only stuck to the grass.......and it was melted away a day later.

..................AND they closed all schools and business because of the snow.

(seriously???? I mean, REALLY??? A freakin' inch of snow?)

We don't get cold that bad here in N.S. It's similar to Vancouver, but about 7 or 8 degrees colder, on average. Still -- that cold, damp wind in winter just goes right through you. It's definitely not good weather for taking the baby out in the stroller. Hence, my request for a Wii. If it doesn't happen, I might get one if I get an income tax refund.

I must admit, the worst I experienced in Canada was -25..... must have been a mild winter :)

It does get less than 10C here in Canberra - but I think the worst was -11..... but below 0 is not at all uncommon. But when we get that sort of cold, it is usually followed by the most beautiful sunny (but cold) day!!

Ok now that is just too stupid for words... -56?!?!?!?!
I think eyeballs would not be the only things to freeze in that temperature ;-)

I don't live there (THANKFULLY) but today in Edmonton Alberta it was -56 with the wind chill. I believe that is the temperature at which your eyeballs freeze. I am thankful to live on the coast where it is -1 and snowing beautifully.

I want 4 ft of snow!!! Our winter has been shit too. I was watching the news, during our first snow storm of the year, and a town right by mine reported that by now they usually have spent $ 50,000.00 in salt and the men have put in over 600hrs of overtime. We are seriously lacking the snow we usually get and it sucks!

Yea Vancouver doesn't get a Canadian winter...... they just turn into the UK LMAO

We don't have snow here yet, I'm in lower eastern BC (8 hours from Vancouver, 6 hours from Calgary and 45 minutes from the US border - a general idea) right on the out skirts of the rockies. It's been between on average -15 the past couple weeks, but has been as warm as 0 and as cold as -30. Up north where my best friend just moved... yesterday was -36 before the windchill when she went to work in the morning and they've got plenty of snow.

It's seriously weird not having snow right now :( We had about 4 feet by this time last year.

LOL @ an Aussie complaining about 'those miserable winter days I can't just boot them outside' LMAO Sorry Jodi, that just cracked me up hahahaha :-P

Don't apologise, you are right to laugh!!!  We don't really get many of them where I live.........  but there are some places....  I used to live in Melbourne, and winters were wet and miserbale there.  Here, at least, they might be cold, but we get a lot of lovely sunny days :)  Occasionally, however, we get 2 or 3 days in a row where I can't kick the kids outside, LOL........

Sorry, don't mean to gloat :)

I have been to Canada in the winter and it's friggin' cold (nowhere here even compares!!)......but it was beautiful. But I was there in the middle of January, and honestly, in Vancouver, it was only about 5 degrees colder than we get it here in Canberra in the winter. Maybe it was a warm winter when I was there.... I do know, however, that Vancouver is a little warmer than other areas - Calgary was a shitload colder......and the Rockies were freezing :)

If you do go for a XBOX 360, make sure you get the newest version of it. We brought one of them and a few months later we got the RROD (red ring of death).

Wii is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100% a Wii is the way to go !!! We have a Wii, DSlite, PSP and Xbox360. Devons best friend has a PS3..... he got it after he broke his xbox and all he did was whine that the games he wanted to play were cheaper on xbox or were only available on xbox lol and it's just a general thing about Sony... all of sony's products are so independant that you end up losing out and/or paying a lot more to use their products.

I love Wii Active though - I've been slacker crackerin on it though... with Gabriel walking/running now... I have to do it when he's napping or someone can keep him occupied and it always seems like there's other stuff that is more important to get done in those times lol

We already have a PS2, and the kids have Nintendo DS Lites, so we decided a Wii would be the best. If you don't already have a game machine, I can understand going for the PS3 or Xbox, but like Krista, we went the wii because (1) it could help me get rid of that extra weight good ol' age is dishing out but have fun at the same time, and (2) it is also a good way for the kids to have some "active" fun on those miserable winter days I can't just boot them outside, LOL.....

if you're not gonna get a wii.... get an xbox 360 rather than a ps3. most of the same games + many many many more exclusive games. A xbox360 is an overall better 'investment' than a ps3......... but neither compares to a wii... you can tell Jamie that there are 'normal' games for the wii too and regular controllers rather than the wii remote / nunchuck :D

I asked for a Wii for Christmas, as I want to get into the Wii Fit and Wii Active stuff -- I got back down to my pre-pregnancy weight about two weeks after giving birth. BUT (before you guys start throwing shoes at me), my pre-pregnancy weight was about 40 lbs. overweight. :) I live in the arse end of nowhere, so there's no gym, and I'll be damned if I'm bringing the baby out in the stroller every day in the middle of a Canadian winter. I figured the Wii would be a fun way to exercise without feeling like it's a chore.

It was my understanding it is called a "Wii" cause... WE... it's for everyone and ii is like 2 people standing side by side... so it's a Wii

From Wikipedia...

The console was known by the code name of "Revolution" until April 27, 2006, immediately prior to E3.[8] According to the Nintendo Style Guide, the name "is simply Wii, not Nintendo Wii." This means it is the first home console Nintendo has marketed outside of Japan without the company name featured in its trademark. While "Wiis" is a commonly used pluralization of the console, Nintendo has stated that the official plural form is "Wii systems" or "Wii consoles."[9] Nintendo spells "Wii" with two lower-case "i" characters meant to resemble two people standing side by side, representing players gathering together, as well as to represent the console's controllers.[10] The company has given many reasons for this choice of name since the announcement; however, the most well known is:

Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate.

We're only just getting the entire console for Christmas, so I am yet to even try any of it, but it does sound like fun..

Where the hell DID they come up with the name Wii?? It really doesn't sound right does it?

LOL Savannah - my hubby had the snip after our youngest :)  So we have no worries there.  My biggest problem is that he is working so much lately that he's asleep on the lounge about 10 minutes after the kids are in bed and I can't wake him!!!  And I have to be up early in the mornings with the kids, so no morning nookies either....... **sigh**

I have gained 10kg in the last year, and I am not happy......I've NEVER gained weight like this before. And it is not my eating habits. I eat healthily, and if anything, my appetite has decreased. If this is the beginning of menopause, it sucks :(

After Christmas, I'll have to get on the treadmill....

I'm sure you're just holding water or something. Unless you ate boston cream pies all day every day, I don't think you would have actually gained that kind of weight in such a short period of time. Next week you'll just pee it all out again.
