Extreme Couponing-New Show on TLC

Anyone catch this show yet? OMG those people may be severe whack jobs, but they get THOUSANDS of dollars of groceries for FREE! But, extreme couponing takes over their lives.

One woman, family of 3, 40 jars of pasta sauce & 40 boxes of pasta. Her $632? grocery bill came to about $8.92 after coupons. Enough laundry detergent to last for 10 years. She also goes dumpster diving for coupons.

The lady from Phildelphia walks her neighborhood in search of coupons. She helps people shop, and says she hasn't bought toothpaste & deoderant in over 30 years! Her $230 grocery bill came out to $6.00, which was the cost of the chicken roaster.

And then the most extreme Mr. Anal Coupon, can;t even begin to describe him & his coupon service! A $2000 grocery bill, split into 3 transactions cost about $325ish. He bought CASES of cereal to donate to the food bank. 60 bottles of hand soap, 300ish toothbrushes. He says the health & beauty aisle always has the best coupons.

EXTREME!

Yeah, I think in Canada it's different. You can't use two coupons for the same product. Either way, I don't use coupons much ebcause I never see them for the products I buy. Most of our food is fresh, and organic and specialty stuff rarely goes on special..

I agree Caitlin is almost impossible, though I have never bought a box of diapers for more then 8 dollars, thanks to coupons and waiting on sales before I used my coupons. Other wise its a waste of time for us, we already dont pay any for shampoo, soap, pit stick, toothpaste, tampons thanks to my father inlaw working for P&G shipping for many years. We have a lot of "fallin" off the truck items LOL.

When they start doing coupons for healthy natural food, I might consider couponing, but as its only for can goods, and processed food it isnt the thing for us.

I saw this last night. It's crazy! My best friend is an extreme couponer, but she doesn't usually do it with food cos it is a lot harder. She gets deodorants, shampoo, razors, diapers, wipes, etc. She has a garage full and she has a booth at a flea market. She literally pays NOTHING for it though. She sometimes even makes money from the store lol. It's crazy. I don't know how she does it, but it takes her a lot of time and planning. She tries to get me into it, but as much as I'd like to do it I don't have the time. I clip coupons, but NOTHING like this lol. I don't have cable or anything so we don't get TLC, but I'd love to watch this show to see what their tricks are! I love coupons and searching for free stuff - I just got my bag of Caramilk Secrets in the mail today and the other day I got my coupon for a full free size bottle of Vaseline Intensive Rescue lotion. I do think it's a bit different in Canada though and in the States you can do more double coupons and stuff like that.

I love my coupons and sales, but I'm not that extreme. I can typically get toiletries for pennies on the dollar. I don't use too many coupons for food, because I tend to buy fresh produce and fresh meat. I generally just stock up on what we like to eat when it's on sale. At one time I had a freezer full of ground meet because it was about $1/lbs. Saves more money in the long run! But yeah, my life is not consumed by it. If I grocery day rolls around and I've yet to do my clipping, I just don't worry about it.

Ok.. I thought *I* was bad. I usually spend 2 days straight clipping anywhere from 100-200 coupons (depending on what we need and how much, and that's usually every few paydays. I try to keep coupons to a minimum b/c if they aren't used, that's a waste of paper and ink that I paid for). The most I've saved in one shopping trip was almost $200. That was ONE time. Usually I save anywhere from $50-80.

But wow.. Talk about extreme, though.. It's true, though.. The health and beauty section ALWAYS has the best coupons.. (that and cleaner is where we save the most in our family..)

That's funny, I was just going to start a thread about this LOL. So yes, I watched it last night. I was so surprised as to how many coupons they use and how much of one item they buy. Some of them needed 3 and 4 shopping carts and help from store staff just to get the carts around. I don't know how they find time for it.
