Facebook is stupid

This whole shitstorm with the deletion of both group pages and personal pages because of “violations” of their TOS is absolutely ridiculous in its absurdity.

If I look at it objectively, a baby’s head covers more of the breast than some scantily clad attention seeking teenager who puts electrical tape X’s over her nipples in her trite attempt at being artsy and sexy. I’ve seen numerous pictures where the nipples are not even covered, but blurred just sufficiently enough to satisfy some very lenient decency standard all the while the lady bits are barely contained by something I’d never call a bikini but seems to skate by on that definition because we can’t quite figure out what else to call it. I’m proposing it be called the Vag Badge.

People who purposefully circumvent common decency for selfish purposes abound on the social networking site, but somehow, the mothers who post pictures of themselves nurturing and caring for their babies in the most loving, natural way are being treated as if they are pornographic while the vag badges run amok without a second thought, but probably many many second glances, because really, sex sells. So, because the breast is being used in a NON-sexual manner, in the manner it was CREATED to be used, mothers are the criminals. As all my inlaws would say, “Get the fuck outta heeere!”

I start to wonder then if Facebook is just run by a bunch of misogynist assholes or is no one really taught the difference between someone being sexual exhibitionist and someone taking pride in doing the best for their children the way nature/God/evolution intended? There needs to be a change in the policy regarding flagging of explicit content. I’ve personally flagged nasty, raunchy NC-17 quality pictures on Facebook only to see them STILL THERE days later and yet The Leaky B@@b‘s page was removed not once, but TWICE almost instantly from complains lodged by unreasonable people who were pissed they got caught trolling for drama.

The only thing I can think to say is that it is all so ri-damn-diculous that it’s almost funny and I would laugh were it not so damn discriminatory and hurtful to mother’s everywhere. “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” and Facebook has scorned several thousand. Good luck with that.

Have the posts been deleted that contain those comments Emma? What group is it just out of curiosity - if the group needs to go I'll report it too to help fight the battle. But if it's a case of an individual's comment that is breaking the TOS, then it would make sense to just report the offending comment to delete it, and not the group as a whole.

Not being funny i've been reporting one group for over a month.
As it is full of racist slurs, threats of violence and the incitement of violence. And FB has done nothing

FB is full of it !!!

I don't think it would be possible to have that many people sitting around monitoring flagged/reported posts.

The only problem with them being deleted and then reinstated later is who actually knows about the pages that are valid? I mean the Leaky B@@b had to jump through some serious hoops to get reinstated, and even then they got another boot.
I bet thousands of pages and pics are deleted by their system and they don't even BOTHER to review them, I mean like you said, how could they?

Well, I don't know if you could make a program to be able to objectively look at a photo to decide if it's breaking the TOS or not. And I don't think it's feasible to have a bunch of people sitting around making those decisions either. Think about how many FB pages there are, and then how many pics are on each page, and then how many possible reports come in a day. I think it makes more sense to go with a flagging method, and if it is later decided that it was deleted in error then it can always be reinstated.

Maybe be a bit more specific on what is flaggable and what isn't.
I mean here we have the admin and mods who can review posts. Having a system like that is a good idea, but IMO faulty because it automatically removes things that shouldn't be removed.
There should be someone reviewing these reports or some kind of program deciphering which is reportable and which isn't.

But one report versus 1000 reports I'm sure makes a difference. If they need to change their policy on how reports work, what do you suggest they do instead?

I believe you're right, Sherri.Too much for actual people to sit and determine whether something is appropriate or not. It's our lovely friends and family who are reporting us. Gives me the warm fuzzies...

It's horrible that people are attacking such a wonderful group. I think breast feeding is a beautiful thing. If I had been able to, I would have breast fed a lot longer than what i did.

i wish i could think of a good way to "get back at" FB. Breastfeeding is not some disgusting act. Its not porn.

I don't think any woman shows off her BFing pictures with the intention to showcase her boobs. I'm not really sure why any one shows those pictures at all. But that isn't the point. They aren't dirty. They aren't raunchy. They're a helluva lot better than the skanky whores who show their cleavage while they're whoring about on the town classy beer bottles hoisted high while some guy is between her legs .. even though they've mostly got clothes on .... You can still see more of her tits than any breastfeeding picture I've seen.

Facebook turned it into a cause. now women feel they HAVE to show their breastfeeding pictures to everyone. And I agree. Until people get it through their rock heads that breastfeeding is NORMAL - breastfeeding needs to be front and center in any breastfeeding moms' picture showcasing - ESPECIALLY on FB.
