Ok, this is the thread to tell all of the dumb-assed things we see on a daily basis! My first one, and it was before 9am...damn.

Saw a guy lighing a cigarette at the gas pumps. He deserves a dunce cap.

*Edited to add* This does not have to be just today, it can be any day that you see a dumb ass thing.

Talking on the phone while driving (without a hands free for adults and at all for people under 18) has been illegal in California since July, 2008. Texting just became illegal a little over a year ago (as well as surfing on the internet and playing games on the phone while driving... seriously people??? People actually do this enough that they have to make it illegal?!?! Oiy...). I still see people doing these things ALL the time though...

@Kati that reminds me... not sure what kind of retail you work in but do you ever get people complaining about prices of things to you?
I remember specifically when I worked at a car wash when I was 18, customers were constantly telling me how our prices were too expensive.
Ok first off, i'm an 18 year old university student and this is my part time job. I do not control the prices. The owner of the car wash does and if you think he'd listen to me, a part time 18 year old, if I told him his prices were too high and people were complaining. Do you really think he'd care or listen to me? Take it up with him if you think his prices are too high.
and secondly, if you think a full service car wash is too expensive. WASH YOUR OWN BLOODY CAR! All it takes is a bucket of water, soap and a sponge you lazy cow! Or take it to a self-operated coin car wash! Arrrggg! Use to drive me bat shit.

A couple of years ago I was in Walmart and the sales associate at the front desk took a stapler and whacked it into his forehead- and a staple was sticking in it.

I have noooooo clue why. He was standing there all alone, no one was bothering him. Just out of the blue as I was about to pass him.

Okay I'll bite.
Last week while out and about during the March Break, I had to run into Canadian Tire (hardware, outdoor equipment store for those who don't know) and standing in the check out I heard someone complaining that the store was too cold and she wouldn't be coming back because of it. She was standing there in a pair of shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt. (it's freaking cold up here at this time of year) so then I hear her say "Well down in New York the stores are warm enough to shop in this time of year". Huh? Really?
So go back to New York than.

My second dumb witness of the day....it is raining outside right now, and I was driving home, and saw a man with a child about 5 years old walking across a street...stopped in the middle of the road to tie the kids shoes. Ding dong.

I can't think of anything stupid today but Jennifer and Kati reminded me of a real douzy...I used to work as a sales rep within the 4 main grocery stores brands in the UK (I had about 30 ish stores in total). One day I was at customer services in one of my Morrisons stores waiting for the assistant deputy manager to come speak to me when a customer comes to the desk to complain...she has just purchased this CD which was advertised as being £7 and even had a £7 sticker on it...her complaint she was only charged £5 because that is what it scanned at...she stood and argued with the poor customer services clerk that she should have to pay the price advertised - SHE KNOWS HER RIGHTS - the poor clerk explained over and over again that it was in HER benefit the CD was £2 cheaper than advertised, so what was her problem? I don't know if she was just THAT stupid or what but it still makes me smile...I mean really who complains because they have been UNDER charged!

In the same vein of thoughts I once nipped into a store to get a drink before work, I picked up this juice drink which for some reason was on offer so it was cheaper to buy 2 than it was one...they obviously wanted to clear them as every customer who picked one up was told it's cheaper if you buy two yet there was still people saying but I only want one...well buy two and chuck one away or give one to a homeless person or just leave one on the counter - people truely amaze me lol.

Alexis - our grocery store gives out free balloons to kids (not fun ones, just regular balloons with the store logo) and whenever we go to a different store my kids ask the cashiers for balloons... It's funny :)

I did something kinda dumb the other day...I asked a grocery store clerk if they were giving their st pattys day balloons away for free after st pattys day just like they did their easter balloons. She looked at me weird and said "no". Which caught me off guard since I could swear the last time we were in we got free easter balloons and I told her so. (in a nice way) when I got to my car I realized that the free balloon I had gotten for my son was a valentines balloon and that Easter hadnt happened yet and it was a different grocery store all together....LOL.....I felt really stupid, but hey I was tired... :)

Your child is playing pretty much no matter their age, when they fall and they really hurt themselves, im talking the hurt where they let out a cry and then the long pause before they just start wailing in true pain, face red..ect

Well in this instance it was a 1year old little girl, she did a face plant on the hard floor…what does her mother do….Fix her damn hair! It was just out of place(oh my)
I would have scooped my child up made sure they were fine, no blood, or teeth missing…comforted and then fixed, but wow

Where I live (in California) a law was passed last year outlawing texting while driving. I kid you not, this one woman wrote a letter to the editor of the paper saying she was a mother, therefore she can multitask and texting while driving is perfectly safe. Oh... my... God... I wanted to reach through the paper and smack her and then take her children and show them what REAL safe driving was!

oh yeah, or complain that we're out of something that was on a really good sale. i don't know how to explain to people that there is only so much room in a store to put overstock of items in. and also that ONE particular item isn't the only thing we have overstock of, sooooo when every tom dick and harry is in there cause WE ARE GIVING THEM A FANTASTIC PRICE on their item, somehow it's OUR fault THEY bought to many and we ran out. it irritates the hell out of me how many things people bitch about that i have no control over. one time i took my name tag, turned it over to show my last name and asked, is my last name Menard? (i work at a store called menards). i really don't understand how i can help you with the fact that you are upset we sell a windshield washer called "bug juice" and you think little kids will confuse it with the juice drink "bug juice" hell, i don't even think john menard would be the one to talk to about that, how about the company that makes the "bug juice" FFS people....

People talking on their cellphone while driving. Running me off the road, swirving into my lane, cutting me off and then claiming that talking on their phone doesn't affect their driving.
