This is an older article but I just stumbled across it tonight. I think it's a little sad that the average person will only have read 6 of the books on this list.

I've read 35 of them and "The Time Traveller's Wife" is sitting on the bookshelf waiting to be read.

MOST HELPFUL POSTS

I've read 18 of them and tbh I'm not really interested in reading more than 25 books off that list (including the ones I have already read) as they are not my type of books. I read a lot and enjoy reading just not the books on that list :-)

I've read about 30 of them. A lot of the children's classics I read in a Children's Literature course in university. A few of my favorites are on the list too! Memoirs of a Geisha is the first book I read after high school that really got me addicted to reading. I also loved Life of Pi and The Time Traveler's Wife (although the movie sucked!) To Kill a Mockingbird I've read several times and love it every time (and love the movie...love Gregory Peck!). There's a few I started and couldn't finish, like Anna Karenina and the Bible...

43 for me. Most of them in high school or in the last two years of homeschooling with my kids. Some of them I've read many times (Jane Austen, Dickens), others I have no intention of reading at all.

I love to read. Before I got pregnant, I was reading 2-3 books per month. I just don't have the focus or time now. I would always read before bed, and now I am so tired when it comes to bed, that I just need to lay down and close my eyes.....if I am not on the couch falling asleep breast feeding.

I've read 17 of them. Mostly for school stuff but a few for fun! I'm not a big book reader but I hope to get more into reading soon!

Only 16, and only half of those were by choice.

I'm also not terribly interested in reading any more of the list, honestly. I love to read, I'm just not interested in much of what's listed.

I've read 17 of those but there's a lot there that I want to read. I read mostly historical romance novels or vampirish type books (NOT Twilight)

I have read about 25 of those books....100 years of solitude was so hard to read. My favorite on that list is probably "Life of Pi". I hear they are making it into a movie!

11, maybe 12 if I cheat and include most of Shakespeare's works. It will be one more as soon as I can get my hands on a copy of "the lovely bones".

12.

I went through stages of reading a lot, but I preferred dark fiction. Not much of a classics girl. But I don't have much time to read anymore, it's been about a year since I picked up a book.

I've read maybe 10...maybe, but it doesn't reflect the hundreds of books I read, John Grisham, Mary higgins Clark, biographies/autobiographies. I love history.....by my bed I have "the six wives of Henry the eighth" and "Elizabeth and Mary: cousins, rivals, queens" I have "up from slavery" that I'm reading now on my iPad.. I also read books by black authors, Zane included, fly girl, etc. So it doesn't reflect all the different genres there are that people may prefer

I've read about 30 of them. I will probably add to that - I'm a prolific reader. But I tend to read what other people buy for me, or what is available at my library :D But I guess 30 is pretty good. A good proprortion of them were on my booklists in high school in the '80s.

I'm at 27 from that list. I'm an avid reader and try to pick 1-2 new books to read every month. If I had more time it would be more :)
My "mom" time is usually spent in a hot, bubble bath, with a great book, while everybody else is sleeping! Unfortunately text books are dominating my leisure reading time at the moment.

I've read 40 of them... but what a weird list. I would really wonder at anyone having read all of them, unless they read them because they were on the list.

This list has been circling around FB lately - I think I came in at 46 or 47. It is a bit of an eclectic list though. Much as I love Thomas Hardy, I'm not sure I would have included both Tess of the D'Urbervilles and Far From the Madding Crowd. And why the hell is Bridget Jones' Diary on there (although I did find it laugh-out-loud funny!).?

BTW, I adored The Time Traveler's Wife!

on that list ? like 10.. and most of those are the classics you read in school LOL

I have however read hundreds of books, im a fan of murder mystery, true crime, horror, suspense and the like.

Not much of a love story, drama, etc etc reader.

I like gross, scary, gory, and shocking. Twisted and sick also rings my bell LOL

I need to be freaked out by the idea that someone actually is twisted enough to come up with such a detailed and horrific story to really keep my interest in a book. Those are the ones ill finish up in a few days, or 2 if im on night shifts.

Alot of people like a certain genre, so i dont think its sad that the average person will have only read a small amount of THOSE titles. because there are millions more out there to read :)

I believe it was 37 or 38. But I have a bunch of unread ones on my Kobo so should be much higher by the end of the year. Some of the books on there blow though so I will never read them (or at least not past the first few pages of blowiness).
