This is all I needed to read: "It's an elective course, and anybody who didn't want to take the course because there are issues that they viewed as controversial, certainly wasn't obligated to take it," she added.

The course is voluntary, for students who have an interest in social justice issues. This is Canada where we have legalised gay marriage and are very staunch in our assertion that we are not to be judged by sexual preference in this country. The school board needs to tell the parents to shut the fuck up. If you are not happy with equal rights being taught in school in even a voluntary way, there are many private options available that follow your close minded views.

I think its so sad that religion still holds so much weight in the choices that are made in schools and such. In time the religions that protest everything and anything in the name of a ficticious book will be considered myths liek so many other religions past...and in the mean time the people they condemn suffer. I think that the course should be able to go ahead as it had been orignally planned for, gay friendly :)
