A friend of mine is Christian and had this posted on her facebook. I thought it was an amazing short showing a baby's development from the very beginning. I had no idea that it is being used all over right to life websites to make a statement about abortion being "wrong". This confused me, do pro life parties think that people don't know how human life begins and how a fetus grows? I guess it was lost to me because without knowing the concept behind the video, I just thought it was a cool video about conception.

So how about you, do you think this video brings anything new to the forefront that would change anyone's mind on such an intractable issue?

Seriously enjoyed the video...despite what it's being used for.

Sometimes i think some pro-choice women don't actually know about the gestation process. They say its just a group of cells, when clearly its a tiny baby even before you can tell your pregnant.

Now i am pro-choice myself, but classifying it as just a group of cells, is kind of ignorant, since every living thing on this planet is "just a group of cells." Its still alive. It does actually lead me to believe they don't know the difference. I know it is preventing a baby that was already started, i know that it is ending a life.

I still think women should have a right to choose to do so if they want because, yea its your body, and if you don't want your own child enough to kill it, obviously the kid wouldn't have a good life and is better off. Its not my place to judge you on your actions.

Pro-choicers do often downplay the gestation process,if your going to do it, at least own up to what your actually doing.

Yeah, it one of the most effective ones I've seen at showing the transitions between sperm meeting egg, DNA swapping etc...

My little girl loves watching babies in any shape or form too. I'm gonna show it to her then put it on repeat.

I don't know about the pro-life message, but that was really cool to watch and my son thought it was awesome too - he wanted to watch it again and again LOL!

Before I get jumped on - I didnt mean that in a callous way -- just truthfully what i think how it would impact someone -- I have a few people in my life who aborted their babies - its been quite some years since it happened - but they are still suffering from it - the 'what ifs', the 'why did i" - etc. Its very sad, and I hope they find comfort - but I know it eats at them a lot.

You are right Becky - most women do know what they are doing when they kill the baby -- this would probably just add to the guilt, if anything.

As a pro-life -- I feel the message they are showing this life that starts at conception. Within the first few weeks there is already a heartbeat, a brain and spine, and so on and so forth with growth and development. Its actually quite miraculous for conception to occur in itself alone - there are videos about the journey the sperm actually has to take to even be able to penetrate and survive to 'impregnate' the egg. I think they are using this to show people that there is a life there. At least - this is what I feel about it.

It is a very cool video. As for being effective in changing people's minds though, I doubt it would change many. For one, I think it's a little artsy for that purpose. I think there may be people out there who use abortion as birth control and try not to think about what it is they're doing, but those people likely either wouldn't get or wouldn't be impacted by a video like this. And I would guess that the majority of people who get abortions are very aware of what they are doing, but are doing it because they feel they have to for whatever reason. So I don't think any kind of video would change their minds.

Also I think that the people who weren't interested in biology enough to bother learning the basics of conception and fetal develoment, wouldn't be able to sit through this video, as pretty as it is

It's a neat video, and it doesn't need to have a message attached to it. It's good just the way it is

It's possible that it would change a few people's minds, but I'm pretty sure MOST adults know at least the basics on conception and fetal development. So.... not likely to influence many's standpoint.
