Really? You're getting this worked up over an internet forum? Audrey, I think you need to chill out. It's not that big of a deal. It wasn't very nice, no. But it's been taken care of and it won't happen again (at least for another couple of months) until another old-timer like myself get fed up with the stupidity and does something silly again. If you don't like it...step away from the internet.

Audrey, there could also have been mothers reading the thread where you advocated feeding a 2 week old baby solids, despite ALL research indicated this is NOT at all a good idea, but that didn't stop you, now, did it? I didn't see you worrying about mothers getting incorrect and/or bad advice then.

Audrey, yes, we were having a laugh at other peoples' expense, and maybe it was a bit mean-spirited.

But believe me, when you see post after post after post after post on the welcome page, which are all variations on the theme of "I have A, B, and C for symptoms, and my boyfriend/husband/love thang and I did X, Y, and Z...could I be pregnant?"

I mean, do these women seriously expect us to diagnose their pregnancies over the internet? Wouldn't it make more sense to just go get a test and be done with it?

At first, it's perplexing, then it's annoying, and then after awhile, you don't know whether to laugh or cry.

So, we were laughing.

If you look at the post seriously, every single thing posted are things people DO! If you find them ridiculous, that's because they are, but people are already doing them and giving this advice! Hopefully someone else can see how flipping absurd it is and figure out that maybe it's exactly that.

I'm locking this thread due to the obvious reasons present both here and on the welcome page.

And did I name anybody? Did I refer to ANY person as being foolish, stupid, idiotic? No. I didn't. Most of the replies on there are quite accurate for what is seen, and used, on a daily basis! I could have just as easily posted it without speaking here, and the exact same thing would have received extremely similar answers. The only problem is that we did it in fun, to enjoy ourselves, and not make anybody feel bad. In fact, if anything, it would make them feel justified! And I DID post a legit article regarding blue cervix in pregnancy, since apparently it's not well known.

I've found I'm a lot happier if I can laugh at myself. I guess this isn't true for everyone, but the harm was not to anybody else at all, so what's the issue?

i was not out of line to direct people here. somebody had to stop the people in that thread. i dont care if they were all in on it, there could have been someone else come in on it, not knowing that it was a joke. and i dont think it is wrong of me to call you all out on it either. and i didnt call you bitches, i said you were being bitchy, which is different. and i think that if you are all getting so burnt out of being moderators, and if it is just so hard for you not to laugh, cry, or poke fun at others, then you should be replaced. people come to circle of moms for advice and support, not to be made out to be an idiot my the very people that pretty much run this site. i know how touchy topics get sometimes but you need to handle it with the grace that others dont. because that is your job, the job you volonteered for. it was and is your choice to become a moderator and if it is too difficult then maybe someone else should take over. i know that it is natural to stick up for each other when someone outside of your little clique calls you out on your bad actions, but im just sticking up for all the other moms that are the victim of your joke. there is a time and a place to vent about other people the way you have and this is neither.

Audrey, the vast majority of the women in this community are not mods.

And those who are, have been in this particular community for a very long time. This isn't just a debating community --- most of us have been here long enough that we've developed a friendship and we trust each other. So yeah, sometimes we take our mod hats off for awhile and blow off some steam. It's usually in generalities, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, it might have been bad form to be making fun of easily identifiable posts. We're human, and this is an unpaid job, and not always an easy one. And it was also kind of bad form for you to post within that pregnancy thread, directing people to this thread. Yeah, that thread wasn't really kosher, but from what I could see, virtually everybody who responded to it was in on the joke. So while it wasn't one of our finest moments, I don't quite know if it was worthy of you calling us bitches and suggesting that we be replaced as mods.

it just isnt the place to blow off that kind of steam, especially when you name names and point out particular posts that you thought were stupid. as moderators, they should be objective and nice to everyone. they should be more professional, so to speak. if they wanted to blow off steam then they should have exchanged phone numbers, emailed each other, or personal messaged each other. for them to sit around and basically bash other posters, it makes them seem less credible, and doesnt exactly give anyone a reason to trust them or anything they say. if they are going to continue to behave this way, i think there needs to be new moderators.

No, it IS sad. You're not wrong on that one, Audrey. But like I said, sometimes you'll have to laugh or you'll cry.

Yeah, this thread got mean. That happens sometimes when people are just in a mood and need to blow off steam. Goodness knows I can be a bitch on wheels when the moon is right. But, I've also seen a lot of incredible kindness, good advice, and strong support come out of these women.

i agree that alot of the post are pretty ridiculous but maybe there really are people out there that are that naive. its sad but true. i just dont think its too nice, especially for some of you who are moderators, to poke fun at them and /or give them bogus answers. And, in this thread, you do all seem like a bunch of bratty teenagers. i know that tends to happen when a bunch of women get together (i have been guilty of it myself) but it doesnt make it okay. Also, i know that i dont see eye to eye on a lot of topics with some of you, but i dont apreciate my thoughts being called ridiculous, or same individuals saying that of all people, they figured me to be the one to believe that fake post. what have i done or said to make you think i am that much of an idiot? thats not a rehtorical question...i really want an answer.

Sigh, I hate to be the ants at a picnic, 'cause those posts WERE hysterical.

But, it isn't exactly kosher to put spoof posts on the welcome page. And as a WTCOM mod, I can't pretend I don't know about it.

Anyway, if whoever has written a spoof post on WTCOM could go in and delete them and give them a proper burial, that'd be great. Or, I can do it if you don't know how.

Thanks, girlies!

I saw that one too. I think I replied that she might be, since Abstinence is only 99.999% effective...then posted a link to the church billboard that said exactly that!

[deleted account]

A couple weeks ago there was a woman who thought she might be pregnant... except she hadn't had sex for 2 years! She was asking if there was any way to get pregnant without having sex and I really had to hold myself back from making some comment telling her to look out for angels 'cause she must be pregnant with Jesus - or something to that effect... lol

[deleted account]

Thanks guys, you have cheered me up after the midwife ringing to tell me I missed the appointment nobody told me I had, I really needed a good laugh and I certainly got it.
