Hugging

My daughter, my youngest child, is 30 years old. She is married (almost 10 years) to a great guy whom she dated since Junior High.
After college, they married and moved to another State, but came home once or twice a year to visit.
From that first visit home...she is different towards me. I have always been generous with full wrap my arms around you hugs and professing my love. On the first visit home she would not hug me the same as before. She puts her hands on my shoulders and pats me. I will say "come on now I want a big hug", but she doesn't. We used to be so close. Is it me just wanting to keep her my baby girl?

That doesn't seem like an unreasonable request to me! :). As a 40 year old daughter myself, I still give my mom hugs! Maybe try to talk to her about it next time you are together, relaxing. Make it casual and not accusatory. May feel awkward but it has been weighing on you for 10 years. Just ask. She may have no idea that this bothers you.
