I'm curious.. Where do you blow your nose?

I hate sniffling. Sucking the snot back from myself or anyone bugs me.

I will blow my nose anywhere. I prefer to use the bathroom or my own car but like now? I'm sick, I have terrible allergies, my sinuses have a sudden let down and GUSH!!!! I can either snort it back up and face it, swallow it or blow my damn nose, or leave my cart & kids and sprint for a bathroom. I blow my nose. In the middle of the aisle with kleenex or a roll of TP I carry with me. I make a big show of putting my snotty kleenex back into my purse and using handsanitzer and wipes before even touching the cart.

I am NOT embarrassed, well, not a lot, to blow my nose in public. I do the same at work. It freaks me that one of those sneaky drops could leak its way down my nose and being playing peek-a-boo at my nostril while talking to someone. So if I have to, I hold up a finger in the universal "hold on a second" sign grab some kleenex and honk away. i always have a tiny bottle of sanitizer in my slacks and make sure to use it. If its a co-worker, I'll ask if my face is clean. If its a customer, I'll say "I HATE alleriges, sorry about that."

What do you do?

I will do it anywhere but a dining room. I hate it when I am out to eat and a old man ( they seem to blow the loudest) is coughing and blowing his nose at the table right behind me. gross. Other than that I could care less

Hahahaha! I have to agree with most of the exceptions.

At the table is nasty.

If I can, I will excuse myself to blow my nose elsewhere.

Thanks ladies! I don't feel so gnarly now!

If its an emergency, then wherever I am. If I can feel it coming I cruise to the bathroom. There is a woman in my office with a really obnoxious nose-blow and it totally grosses me out, I wish she would retreat to the washroom more often.

this is honestly one of my biggest pet peeves. And I dont know why. I know it needs to be done, and it IS more polite than wiping it on your sleeve, but I honestly hate when ppl blow their nose infront of me -or at the table.

I agree. I will blow my nose wherever I need to. One exception, at a table at mealtime, in which case I will at least stand up and turn my back. If I was(were?) a church-goer, I might blow more gently there.

Hand sanitizer is a must!

It's easier to hold in other bodily functions than a faucet of a nose, so who can get that mad?

lol. If I need to blow my nose, I'll blow my nose. I hate doing it in quiet rooms full of people who are trying to listen to something like a movie or chuch service, but sometimes it has to happen.

"What really sucks is when you blow it so much you can't blow it anymore, and its still congested... urggh"

That's just from inflammation in your sinuses. There are some medicines you can take for that now that reduce the inflammation to make you more comfortable.

I, too, carry hand sanitizer and tissues everywhere I go.. But I still don't LIKE to blow my nose in public. I try to sneak off to the restroom or my car if I can, and always have a small plastic bag around for the trash just in case there's no trash can (the little dirty diaper bags are really good for that, but more expensive).

BAHAHA. I just blow my nose too. But I'm never really sick just sometimes I get a runny nose from smelling dust and crap like that.

lol, I'm with you, I blow when and where I need to. Incidentally I hate to be congested or have a runny nose so much that if I could choose instead to spend 2 days on the toilet with a bucket between my knees I would do so willingly.
:) hope you feel better soon

I don't have allergies, but if I'm sick I will blow my nose regardless of where I am. What really sucks is when you blow it so much you can't blow it anymore, and its still congested... urggh

I blow my nose anywhere and everywhere. I'm not always happy to be doing it in the middle of a store aisle but, what can you do.

We also need a "yuck" option. I think I could have given a "yuck" to a couple posts here. lol Cathy's comes to mind....green goo...ewwww

Anywhere. I carry tissues with me EVERYWHERE because I get hayfever, and windy days are the pits. But I do also carry a hand sanitiser with me everywhere too so that at least I'm not spreading the love :)

I'll pretty much do it anywhere if it's absolutely necessary although I'll make every effort to find somewhere at least semi-private.....excuse myself from the dinner table, duck into another room or around the corner etc. Wouldn't want anyone watching me diggin' around up in there. lmao.

I have really bad allergies, so there are sometimes when I cannot go out somewhere and NOT being blowing my nose. However, usually when I take my allergy medicine, that doesn't happen.

Where do I prefer to blow my nose? In the bathroom. My mom has even worse sinus problems than I do, and I couldn't stand when she blew her nose in the car or at the store.. She couldn't really help it, I suppose, but the noise was just unsettling (one of the many noises that I just cannot stand and cringe with every fiber of my being when I hear it). I thought it was rude and obnoxious. But I mean, sometimes you gotta do, what you gotta do.. And that includes doing something that you think is rude b/c it's either that or you waste your time running to and from a bathroom all day and don't get anything else done.

oh!! hahahaha I hate hearing other people blow their noses too! I, of course, don't say anything but i cringe when i see the old dude take his snotty hanky and grab the shopping cart bar with it still in his hand..

Amanda - posted on 09/09/2010

Anywhere, I am like you Sharon, Id much rather have a clean nose, then sniff back snot.

[deleted account]

I'll do it anywhere but I keep it quiet... I don't want to sound like a freaking ship horn. I don't care if other people find it disgusting, I'm not about to have snot dripping down my face... Allergies be damned

LaCi - posted on 09/09/2010

I'll wipe my nose in public but I won't blow it. When other people do it the noise makes me gag a little, which is weird because as far as I know snot doesn't bother me. I just hate that noise. So I'll go to a bathroom or something.

I hate it when I have to blow my nose while cashiering. I'm not happy about it but generally I can't leave when I'm cashiering.

Oh gross story? last christmas i was as sick as a dog and my poor nose was as raw as you can imagine. I bought those moist kleenexes. They were a godsend.

I had NO IDEA that after using them they left my face glistening like I'd smeared snot all over. I felt so bad and so embarassed when i finally figured out why customers were recoiling.. argh!!

Krista - posted on 09/09/2010

The only place I won't blow my nose is where people are eating. So if I'm at a restaurant, or in the lunchroom at work, I'll excuse myself and scoot to the ladies'. If i'm dripping, a discreet dab with a tissue while at the table is fine, but if I'm going to do a major snot-blowing operation, that would kind of put people off their lunch, so I go do that in private.

Louise - posted on 09/09/2010

I would sooner blow my nose than dribble with snot! I do invest in good tissues as there is nothing worse than walking around with tissue stuck to your face. Hayfever season is finishing here so tissues stuck in every pocket, handbag and side table can now be put away, well that is until I get a winter cold ;-(

When I was a cashier, I got in the habit of going to the bathroom to blow my nose, or at least away from the customers after one man got mad at me for doing it at my station, even though I used sanitizer. From a customer service standpoint, I get his point. (Hey, I was the only one on the floor. I kinda had to do it.)
But now that I stay at home all the time, I shall blow where I please as I'm not trying to sell anyone anything and don't care what they think.

Caitlin - posted on 09/09/2010

I hate allergy season. I always blow my nose whenever I need to , no matter where I am, I always have kleenex in my pocket or the diaper bag. Hand sanitzer? not always, but I do use diaper wipes on my hands if I fear anything got through the kleenex.

Blow it in my sleeve if I have to. Well wipe. My allergies are horrendous too.
