Do you have non commercial options? We only watch ABC 4 kids on tv on here, I find even the age appropriate commercials yuck, don't want my child lusting after the latest toy or snack.

But yeah, complain loudly to the channel, they shouldn't be allowed to get away with that.

We once had trailers for some hideously violent horror movie during a My Little Pony movie (equally horrible, but in a totally different way LOL) at two in the afternoon. I found a contact email on the cable station's website and wrote them to complain; I got a reply explaining that someone had mixed up the 2AM and 2PM timeslots or something :P

I think that it may have been a scheduling mix up like Sylvia mentioned. Just find the stations # or e-mail and complain.

We mostly watch Nick Jr, Disney Jr, and PBS which are all commercial free. Occasionally my hubby lets my daughter watch Hub which has kid product commercials and I'm so thankfully she has not started to ask for stuff yet.

Our prominently kid channels do not have commercials. My son watches the "Treehouse" channel. The commercials are LARP (live action role play) by fun adults in leotards, that teach the kids cool things, like stretches, dance, signing, etc.... My son LOVES it. ;)

As they get older though (5+), not many channels without some crazy ass commercials....

Yeah, they really need to take the children into account when displaying acts of violence during a child's show or on a child's channel. My daughter is still terribly afraid of any violence. She won't even watch Much Music because of the "scary" drug commercials (which I don't find scary at all). They show a perfectly normal teen going through dramatic facial changes, to depict what drug abuse will do to you and your looks (it has dramatic music, in the background). She is 13.5. Her ADHD gives her a very over active brain. She has never been able to watch or hear any violent information. She couldn't watch movies like Harry Potter, until recently, since to her they had scary moments. It really is traumatizing to her. I have always had to be aware of what was being shown on TV, since even the slightest act of violence made her upset. :-/

I wish they would take children into consideration when they are choosing what commercials to show. **sigh**

I love how they have premature ejaculation ads on the radio at 3pm. can't you just imagine. "MUM WHAT'S PREMATURE EJACULAITON>?" on the way home from schoool.

The one that bothers me is when they advertise violent, adult tv shows or movies during family movies. The other night we were watching the Sound of Music and they kept running ads for a few different fairly violent or gory shows, like a CSI with this headless bleeding corpse and some guy getting shot in close-up. That I can completely blame the channel for.

I agree and don't stop if they don't do anything. That is ridiculous. Why do they even have such commercials on a children's channel....is beside me. pfffttt
