Is it annoying, or is it just me?

I'm going with the optimistic theory that one day, they will find the happily ever after, the other side of the rainbow and be satisfied with the site the way it is (hopefully without annoying bugs in it!) and then they will stop freaking changing things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No - these are conversations in communities that I don't even belong to, or some are from here, some are from the main page but I haven't commented on them.

Mine seems to be *frozen* I click on alerts and nothing happens. Even though I apparently have 44. I've tried using Firefox and Chrome and it's the same :S

I'm on firefox and I have the big box on the right with two random threads from nowhere...it IS super annoying. It won't even close when I click the x in the corner.

and now I can't click on my alerts :\

[deleted account]

This is SO annoying. That box half way covers my comment box so I can't see what I'm typing and it's bugging the crap out of me. And the alerts box, the dagone thing doesn't work! I click it and nada! Oh and the 'more' pop up doesn't close either for me. *Sigh* What a pain in the arse. ; )

I like how it shows I've got a new alert in the bottom left hand corner.... I don't like the drop box at the top of the page. On my laptop it's alright, I guess. On my PC it drives me freakin batty! My alert scroll box disappears when I move the mouse down to click on an alert. I have to refresh the page and then click "view all alerts".

Also when I move my mouse over the icon for alerts it feels the need to show me a highlighted message saying "view your alerts" and then I can't read what's under it.

Oh and yes.... I hate how COM seems to concentrate on a thread I haven't posted on for days but not show me alerts on a thread I posted on yesterday. That's nothing new though.

I don't have pop ups or any type of alerts. Nothing in the right corner either and I'm on IE and have an ad blocker and pop up blocker. Which is fine for me. I dun like to be alerted when I can click "Home" and look for myself. I hate pop-ups, though sometimes I do have to enable them depending on what site I'm on.

Yes, I also get the alerts like on FB if someone likes a comment or something like that - that part is OK as it goes away. This thing on the bottom right-hand side of the page is still there and super annoying. I also use Chrome, so maybe it only does it in that? I don't know, I guess I can live with it if I have no choice - I just wanted to rag about it LOL! Oh, and Julianne, if you spell the word Google with a capital letter (as it is a proper name), then the spell-checker will recognize it as a real word. BTW - isn't the spell-check feature the BEST?!? I love it!! :D

okay so mine isn't a pop up, I use firefox too. It's just a a little box that appears in the bottom left hand of my screen, it says "so and so liked you post in so and so thread" and then fades away on its own after a few seconds. No actual pop up boxes though. My alerts are finally all normal!!

I just downloaded Firefox 4 last week and now my comments boxes grow too. Love that. I've tried resetting my alert history repeatedly in the last couple days. Nothing is working. They just will NOT stick. Argh.

i just downloaded google chrome....i have a bigger comment box!!! google comes up as a spelling error on the google browser...but not the firefox one LOL

I'm getting pop-ups for communities I don't belong to and conversatations that are really old. I clicked on one that looked interesting only to find out that it had been locked in September 2009. Why would that even show up?

Yeah, ok, I do get those, but it is only an alert if someone *liked* my post or posted to a thread I have posted to, and it lasts about 5 seconds. I didn't think that was what you meant, especially when someone else was talking about that AND another pop up.

i think that's only for people who use google chrome laura. i like it too, lol!
i don't have the problem you guys are having. i just get a little alert on the bottom left that says when someone posted in a thread i posted in. i like it, lets me know when to respond and stuff. no pop ups from communities i'm not in though, that's weird...

There are six dots in the bottom left corner of the box...if you click on them and drag, the box gets bigger :)

You dont get the little squares at the bottom of the page showing you an alert É ( eh shit my keyboard is screwed again lol that is supposed to be a question mark)

they arent new windows lol so your pop up blocker has nadda to do with it.

you should be getting one right as i hit post

I'm not getting any pop ups. My pop up blocker must be doing it's job, because I have no idea what you are all talking about :P

i dont get the random alerts, just the pop ups for topics im involved in

I find when you click the alert, it only takes me to the post if it is on the first page. They missed some coding in there to take you beyong page 1 it seems.

I dont mind the real time updates :)

Johnny, when you go to the alerts page, you can click show alert history and it will show you all your alerts. sometimes you have to click unclick and click again to get them back if you have moved away from the page. Atleast it works for me

mine don't fade either...and even if I click on the x to close it...it doesn't go away :( AND the alerts still don't take me to the post in question only the beginning of the thread

Mine are all ones that I have at least viewed recently. Since my alerts aren't working right, those notifications are kind of helping me.

I haven't seen ANY posts that I am involved in...in fact it popped up a thread from republican moms the other day (hahahahaha).

Anyhoo...it's super annoying.

I don't mind that. What I really mind is that my alerts no longer stay up. It's making it hard for me to follow threads I'm interested in.

[deleted account]

It seems like as soon as someone creates a thread anywhere on com i get the alert. I have yet to receive one for a group i am involved in.

I get the annoying pop up, from all communities on the right side of the screen...has 3 topics in it....and on the left side I get a small pop-up that closes a short time, that one is for the convo's I've replied to etc.

Huh, so far mine are only from threads I'm involved in. Weird. mine closes down after about 25 seconds, I just timed it when Julieanne posted to the school made me feel dumb thread, and again now to let me know that she liked my post in same thread, it closed as I finished typing the preceding sentence. Strange.

[deleted account]

considering its showing me alerts to groups I\m not even involved in....yea its annoying. it wont close either..

It's designed to keep you up to date with posts that you are involved in. It's kind of like on Facebook when someone comments on your status or likes your comment etc. a little window pops up to let you know.
I like the new stuff, I like that they fixed the alerts issue and how it's up on the top in it's own drop down, just like facebook.
I like the similarities between the two. The little pop up fades away after a second, but I can see how it might be bothersome.

ANNOYING!!!! I thought it was just me too...hahaha. Plus, the little cross to close it down only works sometimes for me, well maybe about 30% of the time, so it just stays there staring at me!!!
