Is this ONLY vandalism or something more serious?

I'm saying this goes way beyond vandalism....this is almost assult or attempted assult. These people intended to cause bodily harm as far as I'm concerned.
The scary thing is they won't release the name of the park. Seeing as my parents live in Ottawa and very close to a few parks I really want to know.
What are your thoughts.

Cops say the Exacto knife-style blades were melted into a structure in a new park that's still under construction at Trim Rd. and Springridge Dr. in Orleans.

Not sure where that is since I don't live in Canada, but the park itself doesn't have a name yet. They gave the address.

But this is way beyond vandalism. This was done to purposely hurt any child that wanted to play on the equipment. It's terrible.

Wow that is fucked up! That was a calculated thing to do - to melt the plastic to stick it in - so it wasn't just a spur of the moment prank that some kids pulled. I don't know how they would catch them short of a witness coming forward or the person suddenly growing a conscience and turning themselves in, but they deserve to do some time for that! Just imagining one of my kids going down the slide..........:'( I don't even want to picture it - makes me feel sick.

Nope not vandalism, that was deliberately put there to harm someone. How awful. And time consuming. I hope they find the culprits. If it were to puncture someone that could be construed as intent to murder.

Who ever did this is mentally instable and/or on drugs, probably meth/ice or heavy hallucenagenics because I can not imagine and mentally sound person (no matter how much of a "bad seed" they are) making the effort to do something like this just to see what happens!

Definitely goes beyond vandalism in my book. This person, when caught, needs a psychiatric evaluation.

WTH? Why would anyone do that? Way more than vandalism, they want locking up.

WOW, how awful...another think for parents to be concerned about. You should not have a difficult time finding out the park if is still under construction...you may just have to drive around the area and look!

now that i am thinking about it more...i am kind of upset that there probably will be no consequences for the people who put the blades in the structure. they will probably get away with it, just like those boys did with me. :(

no they did not. we were camping. the event occurred on the playground in a campground. it was during the off season and we were the only 2 families camping at the time. when they saw the blood, they ran and told their parents what they did. the family got in their camper and sped off at lightning speed! they left all of their things behind and never returned for them.

looking back, i wish we had gone to the police. i imagine that they could have been tracked. i also wish we had sued either the campground or the phone company for discarding potentially dangerous material in a kid friendly zone.

Jesus, that could have killed you, April. Did those kids get prosecuted?

it is more than just vandalism. i know firsthand how sharp objects on playground structures can hurt. when i was 7, i was going down the slide (one of those curly shaped ones) and at the bottom was telephone wire from a discarded pay phone. These 2 pre-teen boys used a knife to remove the plastic covering from the wire. they wrapped the wire itself around the bottom of the slide. when i went down, my arm got caught on the wire. i had to have about 20 stitches. i still have this ugly jagged scar on my arm. my skin was literally ripped from my arm. i'll never forget it. those were some sadistic pre teens. don't tell me they didn't know what they were doing. there was most certainly an intent to harm. i was so lucky that i got my head under the wire. imagine what the wire could have done to my throat!

What kind of sick, psychopath does something like that?
Great. Now I'm going to be afraid to let my kids on the play equipment. Thanks arsehole(s).

Yeah, I agree it is intention to cause bodily harm.
Sickos.

I would have to agree with you, Tania. This defiantly sounds like an intent to harm someone.I have always wondered how it is that human beings have such potential to be evil or what kind of sick pleasure would some psycho get out of of that.I also think that when they catch up with this idiot or idiots, they should be charged with the idea in mind of what could have happened. Possibly a intent to harm or like you said, attempted assult. I hope they find them soon.

Oh my soul! The things people will do these days! I don't know how these people would be charged according to the justice system, but I agree that they put those blades there to cause harm to someone else.
