JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Alexandra Tobias, a Florida mother accused of shaking her 3-month-old son to death after he interrupted her FarmVille game on Facebook, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

The 22-year-old was charged in the January death of her baby, Dylan Lee Edmondson.

She entered her plea on Wednesday.

Tobias told investigators she became angry after the baby cried while she was playing the computer farm simulation game, and she shook him.

She also said she smoked a cigarette to compose herself and then shook the baby again, at which time he may have hit his head, the station reported.

State guidelines call for 25 to 50 years in prison, but a prosecutor said Tobias' sentence could be shorter than that.

Does it really matter that she was using facebook? I really don't think so, just a media importance.

On CNN last night it said that she had been depressed before her pregnancy and was suffering from Post Partum depression(on medication). Shouldn't this be more the issue.

The lawyer on CNN last night said that she was too young to be a mother anyways and couldn't deal with the pressure of a screaming infant. This point really pissed me off. I'm 23 years old with a 2 year old and one on the way- age has NOTHING to do with the ablilty to raise and care for your children. The lawyer pulled the "Baby having a baby" card. Said that to

YES, PPD is a real sickness.. and there are women out there that truly do suffer from it but I also feel that there are people out there that will use that excuse just to minimize their actions to be the "victim". IMO if she can walk away and go back to shake the baby some more she did stop herself but guess it wasn't enough.

As for age.. that is the BIGGEST crock of BS I have heard. I had a girl who worked for me who had her baby at 14/15 yrs old she was going on 30 yrs old and her and the daddy were still together with other children and I know a women in her mid 20's who has NO business having a baby. FB has absolutely nothing to do with this... she is the one who made the choice to do what she did and she will have to live with that for the rest of her life!

And it is because of people like that, that kill their children that a parent is the 1st suspect in a childs death or disappearance.

I think people that are sick enoughto do this (and things like child molesting/porn/etc) should be chained up in the center of town for a month and flogged.

And the sad thing is... these parents get "special treatment" in the jail/prison's. They are not mixed in with everyone else for their "own protection".. I find that to be BS!!.. why worry about their protection.. let them deal with it them self! They werent concerned out protecting their child from harm but to actually inflicting it upon them. Makes me sick!! My grandparents were an emergency shelter for abused kids taken from their parents... and it would make me sick to my stomach at what some of those poor kids went through before coming to them!!

I do not believe in abortion BUT this is why I would rather a woman have an abortion than to shake, beat, dumb her baby in a dumpster ect!!! To lose a child to abuse is something I will NEVER understand!! We had a 2 yr old boy in our class (who lived with his dad) that when he went to stay with his mom in Connecticut her boyfriend beat him to death... one of the sweetest little boys you would ever meet. I just wonder if that lady had tried to get help and fell through "the cracks".... how did someone not see that she had 'issues"?

I don't think Facebook has any blame in this. PPD is a serious problem and it sounds like that was the cause of what happened. In fact, it sounds more like Post Pardum Psychosis to me. I know this because I came very close to post pardum psychosis myself. Unfortunately, I have stood there looking at my infant and literally had to walk away to avoid shaking him. I don't like what she did, it's horrible. But I understand how she got there, if it was her depression, which it sounds like it was. Not that it's an excuse for what she did and yes, I think she needs to be punished. But I just wanted to put it out there that I kinda understand the why. A lot of you girls are my friends and know that I would never willingly or intentionally hurt my son. But there was a time when I could have easily slipped too far into PPD and done what she did. The only difference is that I realized it and did everything I could at the time to fix it. Obviously she didn't know enough to get help. PPD at its worst, is a sneaky snake that creeps in and is far worse than you realize and sometimes by the time you realize how bad it is, you're already so lost that you can't see a way out.

I can't even speak the words that come to mind when I think of these girls. Unbelievable.

i'm twenty and my baby's screams are very stressful to me, but i'd never shake her, and i certainly wouldn't go back for a second try after taking a break.

if you have a child you should take responsibility for it and if you need help, you need to let someone know. there's no excuse in my opinion for killing your kid.

WOW!!!!! I was 19 when my daughter was born, I am 20 years old and I'd like to think that I hold rank among any other good parent of ANY age. If you have mental issues or anger problems that make you shake your own child to death, then that is an individual problem. I would never ever ever shake my daughter, and I'm even younger than she is. How could someone do that? It's entirely sickening.

This is Really sad! I can not understand how a mother could harm her baby in any way! There was one story worse than this where i live a few months ago,
A mother and her husband had 8 kids together she had just had her 8th one and she had them taken away from her (i cant remember why) She and her husband moved from Illinois to Indiana and they stat of Illinois decided to give her children back to her well she had a set of twins boy/girl they were 2 years old! One day they 2year old was throwing fits and being a normal 2 year old boy and she got mad at him spanked him and let him be then his father came home went to the little boys room Grabbed him up slammed him to the floor over and over punched him in the face and continued to beat him for an hour! He put the boy in his bed and they boy laid there for 3days puking, not eating, using the bathroom on himself, and had a high fever FINALLY Monday the mother dropped the child off at the hospital and left the boy died shortly after arriving! His WHOLE body was nothing but bruises my mom had to sit in on the trial and she said she almost broke down because they showed pictures of this little boy and he was so beaten you could not see any white from his skin and his eyes were blood red and his sister was bruised the same way but not dead!! The mother got 5yrs and the Father got 20yrs! EVERY time i hear a story of someone killing/hurting there child i just want to beat the shit out of them! YOU can not blame a website/game on parents going PSYCHO!

What a load of BS. Too young, yeah right. I'm 20 with a 21mo old I guess that makes me way too young to be a mom. Should I go shake my child?

Facebook has nothing to do with it at all. She's clearly a selfish deranged person. The fact that she had a smoke inbetween shaking the baby proves it was alot more than just facebook. This just makes me so mad and upset.

If she had no computer, it would have been something else. The issue is impulse control. She was not able to remove herself from the situation, and couldn't stop herself from acting out her anger.

Sleep deprivation is hard, and being a mom comes with a lot of sleep deprivation.

I remember having friends in their early 20s with kids, some were too young and immature but some did it with better maturity and style than other 40-yr old first time moms. I knew I was too selfish and immature to have a child that young, no matter what the age... physical abuse to a child is just sad.

Oh my to young to have a baby I am almost 22 years old and my son will be 2 at the end of may. Being a mother is everything to me that is why i go on the computer when my son is sleeping so i can spend more time with him. She is not a baby having a baby she is in her 20s more excuses for stupid people. It is like saying I am to young to pay pills or rent lol.

I was 21 when I had J...and I had a minor farmville addiction...I never shook him. I think the fact the she had PPD is the real issue here, not facebook or her age.

[deleted account]

ugh....its her fault for being a selfish bitch....blame a website...the website did not tell her to do that or hold a gun to her head.

Facebook is no way at fault. They don't pressure people in any way to go on Facebook or use it for a certain amount of time. It is up to her as a mom to know what is more important, Facebook or your baby!?

I had 2 children at the age of 21. My first son was born 3 months before I was 20. Age has NOTHING to do with this. YES, it is and was stressful, but I never would have thought about shaking either of them to death. Plus, FARMVILLE??? REALLY??? Kill your child because of Farmville!!! She deserves to be in jail for a Very long time!

[deleted account]

Im 22 with a 4 year old step son and a 20 month old daughter, you dont see me shaking them to death! Her age is no excuse. Killing your kid over farmville...what a joke

Stop watching CNN! LOL Its garbage!

Too young to have a child?? Girls have children as young as 14 or younger, and dont shake their children to death. I had two children by the age of 22, never have I even thought to shake my kids! As for an addiction to farmville, I dont know where to go with that one, or the depression. Did the addiction cause the depression or did the depression cause the addiction.

It sickens me that anyone could be so heartless and selfish! I don't think Facebook is to blame... she could have been doing any number of things (cooking, laundry, watching tv) and got mad that her child was in need of her attention. She is also not a child and not too young to be a mom (age-wise.... mentally-wise she should never have had a kid!) we all get frustrated onece in a while with our children, but it's no excuse to harm an innocent and helpless baby!!! I suffered from PPD with my first (i was 21) and many times i was upset, but never once did it cross my mind to harm her in any way! like i said, this sickens me.

No clue Katarina. But then if we did... we'd be that much closer to understanding her and that much closer to losing it like she did or possibly that much further away from doing it because we have the understanding and knowledge its WRONG. She's just a fucking bitch.

Facebook shares no blame in this...that's just retarded.

You know, I can understand being frustrated with a child. It takes a big person to realize when you've hit your ceiling, put the baby down someplace safe, and just walk away. BUT, having carried and given birth to a child, I really don't understand how someone could hurt their own child...it just doesn't compute. I hope this woman goes to prison and gets raped by her cellmate, Big Rhonda, every night.

Nope, first time Mom. CNN also feels that FACEBOOK should share part of the blame as well. How so? It's all bullshit to me. She was a First Time Mom according to all the news reports I've read.

Its bullshit. Crackheads kill their babies, barely makes the news. A marine (sad terrible day for us) killed his baby because his crying interrupted a video game. I've actually read several articles about parents killing their children because they interrupted their games, drugging, whatever.

22 isn't a baby any more - but she's has other kids then I see where her issues started.
