Moms as Exotic Dancers

[deleted account] ( 22 moms have responded )

What's so wrong with a mom exotic dancing? It might be a temporary job to get quick cash-and sometimes very good cash! Can a mom still be a moral person, instilling values in her children, while stripping at night? After all, she is still providing for her family, right? Just maybe in the non-traditional sesne. Is this a position that you would hide from your children or be honest with your kids about what you really do?

but as an exotic dancer you're NOT selling your body like you would in prostitution. you don't HAVE to let anyone even touch you. like i said, you're selling a show, not sex. huge difference imo.

I once had a job taking photos of male and female strippers, does that make me a bad person for exploiting naked bodies for money? The ladies were lovely, intelligent people who chose that profession, most of whom made more money per night than I earned in a month. I didn't speak much to the men so I can't say what they were like. I also stayed in the same hotel as the Chippendales who were some of the most welcoming people I have ever met, they stood up and gave their seats to ladies, bought people drinks, gave people advice about exercising & diet (quite strange eating breakfast watching men in cycling shorts demonstrating their best positions to tone thigh muscles).

I would prefer my daughter did not take her clothes off for work, but if that was the only way she could make money legally then I would support her. I would judge my son's partner on her personality and welcome her into my home whether she was a stripper or shopworker.

How many of us watched Brad Pitt half naked in Troy purely for historical research and how many just enjoyed the view? Is that any different to dancers using their bodies to make money.

Would it change if your daughter was a stripper? Or if ur son was dating a stripper? It's whatever they want as a parent. I guess. Me personally. I would never. To each is own I guess. I just couldn't hear the words" mommy takes off her clothes for money" comin from my girls. I want them to learn they have a thing called a brain. And that ur body is sacred and special and a man should worship it. Not get to see if for some cash. Maybe the strippers where ou guys are from are half decent ppl. The ones I know aren't.... So maybe that clogs my head a little bit.

If it is a legal occupation what is the problem, the kids are too young to see her at work. I would rather be able to feed, clothe and house my kids by wiggling around in my underwear (although with my wobbly bits the customers would demand a refund) than be unemployed and have hungry, homeless kids.

Is there any difference between this and an actor stripping in a Broadway play?

[deleted account]

maybe i'm too liberal a thinker or have no morals or something, but how would it morally affect children unless they are taught it is wrong?

I stay fit for dancing with these programs

Both their real-life experience and the latest fitness research suggest that low- to moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, while beneficial, is not the fastest route to leanness and overall health that many people believe it is. The real key to fat loss is high-intensity exercise, especially strength training.

I have four kids had a great job bartending and was unjustly fired from that job and I've been trying everything now my phone gets shut off my vehicle needs repair and I owe everyone money for helping me it seems like the only fit to save my family and my house but I know my relationship will be over any advice..

if my daughter was happy with her body and wanted to be in that profession, more power to her! i hope she has great self-confidence and knows how beautiful she is. if a woman's got it, i think it's her right to flaunt it and make money off it if she wants. just like how i'd like selling some of my artwork or my yarn creations and use my gift to make money.

i agree Tracey, actors are always getting naked in the movies, you don't see people saying they're selling their bodies for money and that it's a disrespectful practice.

I dont see the body as sacred it's natural and beautiful your skin is the outfit you should wear best clothes were invented to keep us warm I'm sure native Americans or early people weren't too worried about being modest but more about staying warm

I go to them with my fience I'd never work in one I admire how they look and move it's a matter of courage they look good and they know it and a girl can only hope to look as good or to turn there man on like that hot mommas rule I'm one of em my man lets me know and I have stripper friends they are ordinary girls otherwise modest and dress like any other girl wouldn't look twice at a supermarket as a bad person or stripper.... I had my guy buy a pole it's fun and harder than it looks they have my RESPECT it takes a lot of physical strength but I love dancin on it it's fun and great exercise and I can do what they do for my man and I don't have to work there to dance

It's something I could never do. I feel there is just some kind of moral line being crossed there. So what's the difference if your mom was a playmate? That's good money and youre not putting yourself in harms way?! And I see how it varies some from prostitution but it's sill the same idea. Selling your body for money. Is that all that you have left? It doesn't take much brains to work at a fast food restaurant.. Not as great pay. And is a quick fix really the best way? I know a few strippers and they say they would never leave because it's such great money but then they hate their jobs at the same time. You can get a decent job with no education. I'm a cna which took a month to get the certificate. But I make more than some college grads. Now I'm not saying all aspects of my job are wonderful. But it's helping people and supporting my family. I would not do this as a mother. Your kids look up to you and learn moral standards from you. Do you really want them to be ok with men groping at their bodies instead of learning that men need to respect you as a women?

I don't like the sound of it and wouldn't do it myself but i wouldn't disrespect someone who did.

I worked in a childcare center before i had kids and looked after a little girl who's mother worked as a stripper. She was one of the nicest people i have ever met. She was a great mother and was in a committed relationship with a really nice guy. They came to all the center events were really open about what she did and were quite moral people.

Not something I'd be comfortable doing and I wouldn't like my daughter doing it but people need to make money and you've got to do what's best for you. It just depends on you and your circumstances

I agree with you Jaime. It may be immoral in some peoples eyes due to different religious and cultural ideas. But as long as the woman is freely choosing her path, then there is no harm being done and no laws being broken. I personally find nothing morally questionable about choosing that profession. I think when children are young and not yet knowledgeable about things like exotic dancers, it would be enough to simply say that "Mommy is a dancer." As they got older, I am sure they would be able to handle it. I have a hard time imagining myself doing something like that, I am not that confident in my body and do not have a good enough self-image. But part of me wishes I could.

Hmm, I'm on the fence with this one. On one hand it IS money, but on the other I think morally it does affect what your children may think. I definitely would NOT tell them.

[deleted account]

If that's the commodity they can sell the best, ok. I'm a capitalist in that sense. I think women in that industry and its' cousin Prostitution need way more legal protections.

[deleted account]

i don't see anything wrong with exotic dancing. i tend to believe they have a fairly good self-image and that's something everyone should have. i know i would if i was stripper material, lol! there is a huge difference between exotic dancing and prostitution. i think a lot of people get them mixed up, though. prostitution, you're selling your body and harming yourself as you never know what you're going to end up with. stripping, you're selling a show and you don't have to touch anyone or let anyone touch you if you're not okay with it.

i'm too fat and self-conscious to dance fully-clothed so i know i would probably never do something like this even if i had the body (which i hope to someday, a girl can dream!)

but if i ever did, i wouldn't outright tell my kids - and no going to the bring your parents to school day, lol - unless they asked, in which case i'd probably try to explain it in a way that they would 1) understand and 2) not think it was something worth telling everyone in their class.

besides, i don't know that my husband would agree with dances for anyone but himself if i ever got back into shape, lol.
