Mothers follow "doctor's" advice to molest children

It's hard to know what's more disturbing: that a man posed as a psychologist online and told mothers to sexually abuse their children as treatment, or the fact that mothers actually took his advice and did it. Both are unimaginable, but yet they happened, and innocent children have been harmed.

According to a story from the Associated Press, Steven Demink, a former car salesman with no medical background at all, told mothers across the country that sexually assaulting their children could be therapeutic for them. In one case, he told a mother to perform sex acts on her 8-year-old autistic son to teach him about sex. Of course, being the sick, twisted pervert that he is, he asked the women to take pictures and videos of themselves in the act and send them to him ... and they did.

Since he was arrested last October, seven children have been rescued, and three mothers have been arrested. The children abused ranged in age from 3-15, and more cases are under investigation. Who knows how many out there haven't been found.

His actions are deplorable, but I can't get over the fact that the women followed his orders. How could they? It's one thing to encounter a sick pervert online, it's another to actually follow his advice and harm your own children. How can someone you've never even met in person have that much power over you?

He portrayed himself as a charming doctor named Dalton St. Clair and used pictures of male models to represent himself -- he looks nothing like a male model in real life. He preyed on single mothers, and even promised some women dates if they did as he told them. You've got to be pretty damn desperate and sick to get a date that way.

One mother told the Associated Press about how sad and depressed her daughter was after her divorce and that Demink had some power over her. How about unplugging your computer? There are no excuses or explanations that can make this any more understandable or forgivable.

For his part, Demink pleaded guilty yesterday to six charges and faces 15 years to life in prison. One of the women is currently in prison for an unknown amount of time. The other two who were caught are awaiting sentences. While they all deserve punishment that no court would hand out, it will be interesting to see if the mothers or Demink will be sentenced more harshly. It seems it should be the mothers since they committed the actual acts, but if they all rot in prison for the rest of their lives, I think they'll have gotten off easy.

Who do you think should get a harsher sentence -- the "doctor" or the mothers who followed his advice?

I have no words strong enough to convey my disgust of these women.

The women all need to be beaten with a rubber hose and locked up forever because they're too dangerous to be allowed on the streets.

I feel that the mothers had to believe that it was right to molest their children.. they had to like and or enjoy performing the act because as a mother i would never sexually molest my son... especially not taking advice from a stranger online. come on now, you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know what was going on.

what....the....fudge!!!!!!!! if someone is that dumb that they would take advice like that they are far to sick and dumb to be raising children! i think the "Dr" and the mothers who followed his advice deserve equal sentences. they need to be locked up forever and kept away from children.

They should be punished the same! If you are old enough to have children, then you are old enough to know that this is not right!!! Those women are absolute idiots and don't deserve their children. Are you kidding me??!!! Those poor kids, take them away. They are scarred for life because of having IDIOT parents.

Just fucking sick and twisted. I am unsure how any "sane" person mother or father, could ever believe that it is OK to molest their child. I am sickened and deeply disturbed! FMN, what next!!

As soon as this cretin suggested that I molest my child, I would've called the cops. I don't see how any mother could do anything else. Those poor, poor kids. :-(

The mothers. How can a mother even take that kind of advice and still be sane.

Ugh - some people don't deserve the gift of life that they've been given. Seriously.

OMG, I heard about this on the radio.

The mother's are horrible for even thinking that that was ok.

Unreal. And he fooled a lot of people. How could that happen?

The mothers! The man is obviously sick and twisted and should be severely punished but theses women hurt their babies...I suffered from mild case of postpartum depression/anxiety and I get that sometimes maybe a woman might feel so alone that she could be swayed by what seemed like a supportive "doctor," but seriously! The minute that you hurt or abuse your child you have lost any and all sympathy from me.

How dumb can you be and still breathe? I wouldn't be consulting an online doctor in the first place for one, especially if I had a child with special needs.

This makes no sense to me. I think that anyone who would listen to some random person online directing them to molest ANY child, already was mentally unstable to even remotely consider this.

This. Seriously? Granted, I realize that common sense tends to be in short supply these days (especially from people that get ALL of their advice online), but how twisted and pathetic do you have to be to think this is ok by ANY stretch of the imagination?
