My family says I'm breast feeding too long

[deleted account] ( 16 moms have responded )

Is it their business? My son is 8 and we are weaning. It's stressful for both of us. He begs for night feeds to fall asleep. My family says he's too old.

I'm thinking troll too. As someone who did self weaning, some of her comments just don't sit right with me.

I would agree with them personally, he needs his own identity at this age, not still be connected to mommy.

You my dear, are one twisted individual. Have you thought of seeking help Martha? And if you have, they need to up the dosage. Or depending what it is.... Take it down a notch perhaps?

I'm sorry this is just so odd for me :

I guess we must. It is so nerve wracking but my nipples will be happier too even though it feels good. They are so sore from the accidental bites and the tongue swirls.

I actually laughed...

Go look at her other threads. She has had plenty of conversations about this.

This OP has never responded to the clarification request.

I'm pretty sure that this is a troll post, considering that.

You don't think it's any of your family's business, yet you'll come online to a public forum?

Something's off here.

Your family is right. Your kid is more than old enough to understand that it's time to eat and drink the same foods that you and your husband do. Again, I ask...what have you been doing up until now? Meeting him at school for his lunch feeding?

[deleted account]

I'm sorry. We are just back to the states. Have lived in places where food wasn't always acceptable to eat. I realize cultural norms are diff here and that I need to readjust.

I'll be honest, I am not sure what to think. You've been posting all over this site how you nurse your 8 year old. I nursed twins, to 3 1/2 and 4 1/2. Your story just doesn't sound right.

If your story is legit, he is more than old enough to tell him that you're done

Do you think continuing to pump for a while for cereal and cups before bed is ok? Some of his friends have seen him grab a "snack". They laughed but he didn't care.

[deleted account]

Thank you Evelyn. It's just so hard. He really doesn't want to stop and I don't want to grow apart. I thought of pumping and giving him a cup at bedtime to see if we can go that direction. I put some in his cereal today and he loved it. Maybe thats our start. I know we have to stop before puberty, he can't do this when he sees them as a toy.
