I have dealt with ADHD since I was young... it has been a problem in a lot of areas in my life. Most recently though, it put my infant twins in danger... I was having a conversation and forgot to put the air conditioning on while they were already loaded in the car. By the time I noticed they were red and sweaty.

Luckily they were responsive, and I got them home with in a few minutes, applied cold compresses and put them in front of a fan. They are fine...

This is the worst thing that my ADHD has ever attributed to- and like I said, I have been having problems since childhood (I am 26). My question is, do you think it's worth brining up at my postpartum appointment to? I'm just not sure how the doctor will react. And I don't want her to think I'm a bad mom... I mean, I am in tears over this still, and it freaks me out!

Thoughts?

Hi friend~
Well, that's good you're aware of your struggles and it's obvious you love your children and want to keep them safe. So, with that in mind, it seems like it probably would be good to bring this up with your doctor. Perhaps they could suggest some strategies for dealing with this and keeping yourself mindful of how your circumstances may affect your kids. And I totally understand it's not easy to talk about issues like these, but your priority needs to be your children. Another thought might be to check in with a therapist if you haven't already. They might also be a good source of help. And, in the meantime, I'll certainly be keeping you in my prayers!
