The son of former Vice President Dan Quayle unveiled a TV campaign ad Wednesday in his bid for Congress in which he calls President Barack Obama "the worst president in history" and tells Arizona voters that he wants to "knock the hell" out of Washington.

Ben Quayle's provocative ad, aimed at voters in Arizona's 3rd Congressional District ahead of the Aug. 24 GOP primary, was released amid allegations that he posted items under an alias for a racy social website a few years ago.

In the campaign ad, the 33-year-old Quayle faces the camera directly and begins by saying, "Barack Obama is the worst president in history." Quayle's generation will "inherit a weakened country," he says.

He goes on to implore voters to send him to Congress: "I love Arizona. I was raised right. Somebody has to go to Washington and knock the hell out of the place."

The ad was to begin airing Wednesday on Phoenix-area TV stations, and was posted on the Internet. Quayle's campaign would not reveal the amount of the ad buy.

Quayle, who is a lawyer and managing director of a Scottsdale, Ariz., investment firm, has never held elected office. But he has emerged as the top fundraiser in the crowded field of 10, and profits from name recognition that comes with being the son of Dan Quayle, the former Indiana senator and vice president under George H.W. Bush.

Recent controversy over the racy website, which was aimed at detailing Scottsdale's nightlife, has livened up the race, with Quayle's campaign this week calling allegations that he once was heavily involved in the site a "smear of the sort that has been trafficked by several of the candidates in this campaign for months." The campaign suggested the allegations, first reported by Politico, might have come from a publicist for one of Quayle's competitors.

Quayle has admitted that he knew the site's founder, Nik Richie, and once referred him to a lawyer. When asked Tuesday whether he wrote for Richie's site, Quayle told The Associated Press that he "wrote a couple of satirical and fictional pieces for a satirical website" but that he quit doing so once the website shifted its editorial direction away from satire.

Quayle said he couldn't recall what his posts involved or when he made them.

Richie said Quayle contributed items in 2007 under the alias "Brock Landers."

"He was the guy, that you know, people would send pictures to of hot chicks, and he would put together who he thought was that hottest girl and why," said Richie, whose legal name is Hooman Karamian.

Quayle hopes to replace retiring Republican Rep. John Shadegg in the GOP-leaning district that covers parts of Phoenix and Scottsdale and some rural areas to the north.

~Do you agree with this guy?
is he really the worst pres EVER?

I still think as citizens, we are far more at fault for our issues then we realize. It seems to me that no one wants to give up anything or do anything to help anyone else. No one wants to take the blame. We just want somebody to clean up our crap, but to do it in a way that doesn't inconvenience us. We make too many excuses. The recession has hit me hard, and there are things that have happened that I do not think are fair. But I blame myself spending when we should have saved. I believe in saving for my own retirement and not relying on social security or the government to take care of me. And if I can give money to help someone in need then I will. Stop blaming Obama for not being able to clean up your messes.

I think this ad campaign is a nasty smear and the sad part is that Arizona voters are going to get sucked into voting for this ass with NO qualified experience in a public office. I don't want HIM to represent ME at all.

"I love Arizona. I was raised right."

Hey, I love Arizona too! I was raised right....but what does he mean REALLY when he says he was raised RIGHT? Ben Quale is hiding behind his family's name and has nothing to show for himself.

As far as Obama being THE WORST president, no, IMO I think the 8 years prior to Obama were the 8 years that put the country in debt. While I am an Obama supporter, I also admit that I am not 100% thrilled with his presidency. But like someone said above, it is time for people to take responsbility for their own actions and stp blaming others, including the President. Even when Bush was in President, I still had a level of RESPECT for the country's leader. I think it's disgusting how nasty conversations can be towards the country's highest elected official.

Maybe America is not ready for Obama. To me is in the same leaugue as Nelson Mandela is in South Africa. What with the building of the mousque at ground zero. What he is doing is remind the Americans what democracy is about without fear or favour. People may not like his decisions but I can tell you he is think long term. He is not a populist president. I am an Obama fan.

What I don't comprehend is how people can decide after not even 2 years, that this guy is the worst president ever. I mean really? The right decided this actually only months into his term. It's kind of crazy. Why hasn't he solved all of our problems (that the past 8 years produced) in less than the 2 years he's been in office? No president ever could have what with the mess that was left for him to clean up.

Nope...don't agree at all. I think Obama is a breath of fresh air and I'm already seeing MY financial life recover from the mess Bush caused. You can't change what's real....I was in bad shape during Bush...was laid off during Bush's presidency, watched others get laid off, went into debt and NOW...I'm in a secure job, paying off my debt and seeing my investments rise. People can say whatever they want but things are better for me personally. Even the health care bill that passed benefits me in some ways so I'm pleased. And yes, I voted for him!

"Why do people hate him so much anyway? Medicare is a great idea, we've had it in Australia for years and it's good... people don't have to fork out thousands for ultrasounds and to go to hospital for emergencies."

Emma, WE HAVE MEDICARE!!!!! We DON'T have Universal Healthcare. I'll start another thread b/c this will go WAY off topic.

Worst President ever?? So far? I say.. He's definitely getting there..

Well I only listened to two of them - one of them in real time and while I knew everything he was saying would be interpreted quite negatively, I didn't disagree with what he was saying. However, I can't speak to any of his other sermons.

The problem is, Pamala, that there were SEVERAL sermons that were questionable. Hell even Oprah knew it wasn't a good church to be associated with. ;)

Obama has been affiliated with the United Church of Christ in Chicago for 20 years. He is a professing Christian - though frankly, that is not a requirement for being president.

Having read the entire sermon of his pastor, I would not call Jeremiah Wright a racist. There was anger (yousa - lots of anger) in his sermon (understand that it was cherry picked by FOX News and the right wing pundits and taken out of context) but when you read or listen to it within its full context, I at least, did find myself agreeing with the man to a large extent. As a nation, we really need to be able to take a hard look at ourselves. That is the only way we can overcome the racism and allegiance to the twin gods of greed and military expansionism.

Obama's father - while raised Muslim - was apparently an atheist (as was his American mother). He is not the worst president. He has been blocked on every point by the Republicans - on every level. I am amazed this guy has accomplished anything.

And Mary, I think Reagan sucked too. He got us on this path that has taken us down roads we never should have traveled.

I actually think that Reagan was pretty bad...bad economic policies, racism, the war on drugs, star wars; so much was mishandled under his watch...a lot of what we are going through now can be attributed to him.

I don't blame Americans for being afraid of Muslims. it doesn't matter whether Obama is Muslim or Christian, he is the president of a nation and has to be professional.

I said something to the effect of americans had a reason to fear muslims and that was wrong - what I meant was "americans had a reason to fear radical muslims." The few muslims I've met in person - barring one small group at the UofA - have been extremely friendly and peaceful.

I think W. Bush was the worst one in my life time...I think that had whoever's corporate/private insurance friends ever needed some of those services that were flat out denied now would probably have found themselves flat out denied before had they needed them. Insurance companies are notorious for denying claims based on WHATEVER they can dig up on you to deny it. The problem there is the for profit system by which they run! It is still going to be years before we can say if his system is all that messed up...I'm sure it won't be great, after all it isn't socialized health care, which would be better IMO. Just the same, what we got SUCKS! So anything to make it better for seriously needy ppl is a great step in the right direction...it was costing us all before it'll cost ya now, BFD. I think Obama is doing the best with what he inherited! With what he walked into this 4 yrs was gonna suck regardless of who was president right now! Which, IMPO, is why a black president was even elected! What better time to elect a black person then when you KNOW, without a shadow of doubt, that he could NEVER pull us out of this pickle! Just one more reason for all the naysayers....

Yes, Reverend Wright is totally racist. There are quite a few sermons to pull from in that direction.

sorry - I'm trying to cook breakfast, get the kids off to school, play fb games, and talk here. lol.

Katherines video/snopes link was fascinating - and sad. People will clutch at anything but I can see how that was sort of miscontrued and I can see how/why the extremists seized on that video clip.

Obama hasn't been very openly christian - and maybe someone else can research this... his link to his church is fairly recent isn't it?

And his pastor claimed that all white people were evil or something like that?

Honestly - the thing about his pastor is what concerned me the most. Most presidential candidates are very conservative in who they ally themselves with and being an ally of a man who hates white people is disturbing to me.

People think he's muslim because his father is/was.

Its not because obama isn't christian - its because the public suspects he's muslim.

And while in general americans are tolerant and accepting of the muslim religion - you have to admit we, in particular of the nations, have a reason to fear muslims.

Honestly - right now, I would not trust an openly muslim president or a secretive one.

Government healthcare has been fucked up - but now obama has fucked up WHAT WE'RE PAYING FOR. honest to god. everyone i know with corporate funded healthcare or private healthcare are screaming obsceneties at obama. Suddenly costs have gone up for them and certain services are being flat out denied.

You can pray however and wherever. But you can't have, for example, a school initiated prayer in a state owned school. That would be unconstitutional.

Katherine-
Where does it say that the president is supposed to be Christian? I thought that one of the founding principles of this country was freedom of religion. And he is a christian, incidentally. Not that it matters in the least.
And healthcare was already really messed up. It's been messed up for 100 years. At least he did something with it, and we've yet to see whether it's better or not. Time will tell.

Emma - not because people think he was born in hawaii, but because they think he was born in dubai or something. You have to be born on american soil in order to be an american president. frankly I'm not convinced he's "american" by birth or in his heart.

I also don't agree with all the "obama is evil" shit either. I'm still sitting back and waiting to see how his 4 years pans out. I'm not impressed so far.
