Every commercial that I have seen promoting this show looks interesting, but I have avoided watching it. It seems that every women in labor that they are depicting is strapped to a bed. I fear that it glorifies c sections, and on your back deliveries. It would also mean that it would glorify epidurals in my opinion. I just cannot bring myself to watch it. What do you think? Have you watched it? What is your opinion if you have/haven't?

Just so you guys know:
The series will air on Tuesdays at 10/9 C on Lifetime beginning on Feb. 1

It was filmed with mounted cameras in the hallways and rooms at Riverside Hospitl in Columbus, OH where I live.

From what I understand there were not any cameramen there it was all from the mounted cams in certain rooms and hallways. Haven't heard any bad lcal press about it but the producers have bee on the morning shows here a fe times. I am lookin forward to seeing wht it is all about though.

i've only seen one commercial so i don't really know what it projects or doesn't project. however i will say it IS normal to have and want an epidural, and normal to want to lay on your back for many many women. i've said it once and i'll say it again epidurals are a god send for many women, and they shouldn't be treated like they are the debul!! :)

if it is like baby story on tlc, then i'd probably watch. i actually saw a variety of births on that show, much like i suspect thsi one would. ;)

I dont think it promotes anything. reality is most women lay on their back to deliver. It seems pretty realisitc to me. Why would you think it glorifies c-sections? C-sections are another reality of birth stories. I cant wait to watch it! And when i was in labor for 24 hrs i was at the point to say CUT IT OUT TOO!!! .. just a reality. not every women reacts the way you see fit in a perfect birth.

I''ve seen the UK series and found it interesting, but then I am a birth junkie. Being in the UK system, with midwife-led care, I managed to avoid throwing anything at the tv :-p There were aspects that made me cringe (like the asshole OB making fun of a woman's desire for natural birth) but for the most part it was good. It definitely opened my eyes to the difference between births. I watched women screaming for pain relief at 2cms (I was at 4cm for days before my labour even started), and others struggle with the emotional drain of birth. Given my plans to become a doula, I'd say it was helpful.

The American version would likely do my head in though.

Sorry to say it is real births, they were on the morning shows trying to talk people into delivering at riverside to be on the show back in sept/oct. they filmed it from like the middle of nov. thru dec. Some of them crack me up. I delivered my two kids in tn with wonderful docs and hilarious nurses for crying out loud , we were watching comedy central specials and laughing while i was in labor. I don't remember being that dramatic. but they could have been showing out for the cameras.

So those women huffing and yelling in the adds are just sensationalistic? The blonde looks soooo familiar.

Because of them I was thinking it was a parody.

LOL Ohio hospitals. No offense to anyone who lives there but just knowing the state it's filmed in is sure to result in me throwing food at the TV.

I too saw the first UK series. I ended up crying as each baby was born! I love a good birth story. I would say it showed a range of births, although I guess emergency sections and dramatic labours make for better tv.

I watched the first series here in the UK.
It's like a hidden camera (which they know is there of course!) filming them give birth in various ways etc.

I thought it was kind of interesting, I didn't think it glorified any type of birth really, it was just whatever happened to the woman who had offered to take part. Some just used gas and air, some had epidurals, some ended in C-section. Some were walking around right up to the last minute, some did just lie down, some were crouching, some were in a pool.

I haven't watched any of the new series though, to be honest, it brought back too many memories of being in pain!! lol!

Ive seen previews and it looks interesting but i know i wouldn't want to be filmed giving birth i would have been throwing things at the camera man if he got close and personal lol! I ended up having a c section and i was having HARD contractions and everyone was hugging me before they rolled me into the operating room and i think i broke some peoples backs when they were hugging me :P

Yeah I think it JUST changed. If I remeber it was on Lifetime. So I can't watch it anyways, because we only have basic cable.

I'm thinking it MUST be fiction. One of the ladies in it looked remarkably similar to that actress who stars in Parks and Recreation.

It keeps popping up in the ad at the top right hand corner of COM pages.

This is the first i've heard of this show. When can I catch it? Is it on TLC like A Baby Story, Bringing Home Baby, etc.?

Hahah Sarah you beat me to it.

Is it fiction or non?

I won't watch it because I would end up yelling and throwing food.

Oh I didn't realize the show had started already. It looks interesting, but at the same time, it seems pretty similar to all those other baby shows out there: Baby Story, Bringing Home Baby, etc etc. I'll probably check it out next week or something.

i just watched a clip from it and a woman was giving birth in a pool..and she was begging for them to cut her....?? weird...
