online bullying-is it the bulliers fault or her parents?

my husband showed me some of this girls videos like 2 days before this whole thing went crazy on the news. she is a punk, she talks about shooting people, and how she's so much better than everybody else, and everyone else is just a bunch of losers. i can't find any of her videos anymore to show you what she is like, they all got taken down, but i was absolutely horrified at her videos. my son is 10, and there is no way in hell he would be talking like that, LET ALONE be making videos of himself to put up on the internet. the media is portraying this girl and her family as victims, and while i feel that she is too an extent, noboby deserves to be talked to like she was. however where were her parents?!!!! why are they allowing their 11 year old daughter to post videos of herself anyway? and if you are going to allow your child to do that, don't you think you should probably MONITOR what your child is doing? i place all the blame on her parents, what worthless pieces of skin.

anyhoo, what do you think?

I don't believe it's any more okay to provoke people than to bully people.

Both. Any type of bullying is the bullier's fault. Regardless of how provoked they may think they are, they have the choice how to respond. No one can MAKE you engage in bullying. However, I'm with you... What the HELL were her parents thinking??? My kids are too young to worry about it now, but at age 11, there is no way they will even have the opportunity to make and post videos like that! Their only internet access will be on our family computer, and will be monitored. If I caught them posting videos like that, they would not have internet access again for a verrrrrrrrrry long time! And her dad getting in on the retaliation is just asking for more!
They need to shut down their internet access and just go away for awhile and let this blow over. Going to the media and trying to retaliate is just making things worse.
