"Perfect" Women On The Bachelor

Ok, so I was sitting down tonight watching The Bachelor with my husband tonight and he pointed out that all the women on it are "perfect". All very skinny, with good hair, nice skin, beautiful clothes, etc. I know that the hair and clothes are probably a result of the show, but seriously... His comment got me thinking, would you watch if there were "real" sized women? What about men?

I would like to say that I know I would watch it either way, but if the guys were out of shape I don't know. I don't watch it for the abs or muscles, I usually don't go for that sort of thing, but I just can't be 100% sure that it would keep my attention as much.

Let me know what you think. Does it matter that much?

Who's to say those women aren't "real" based on the fact that they are slender and healthy? There are real women of all different shapes and sizes and the same goes for men. I personally haven't ever watch the Bachelor but I have seen the commercials on for the show. But there are plenty of people out there that have bodies like that. I know I was one of them before popping out my 2nd kid.

I don't know, the moment they open their mouths, 90% of them become less attractive. That's what my hubby said the one time we watched it. And I'd agree. I like to look at attractive men, but a fair amount of them ruin the enjoyment by talking.

I've watched a couple of seasons of the Bachelor/Bachelorette & it actually kinda bores me. I just don't find it very exciting watching two people walk around & chat for 20 minutes & then make out for another 10. I need more action than that. As far as looks go, it doesn't matter one way or another to me if they're attractive or not. It's all just the same ole, boringness every season.

I don't and wouldn't watch the Bachelor (or any of the shows like it) no matter what the people look like.

Meghan, I'm picturing lots of people wandering around and falling over things?
Don't think we have the above shows over here.

How about a show where everyone is blindfolded and they have to judge each other on their personalities?

I watch it every week...and by the end of each episode I am angry and disgusted lol.
I think they had some shows years ago like "average Joe", "Beauty and the Geek", "Joe Millionaire" etc that featured average looking people...to me it really doesn't matter. A train wreck is a train wreck :P

What I don't like is shows that market normal looking average Joes as "real". Everyone is a real person. Why can't we just have shows about people?

Yeah, they had that More to Love show and guess what? He chose the "skinny" one.

I don't really care what they look like because they usually split up anyways. No point looking perfect if you're in a miserable relationship. So I guess I don't really want to relate to people on those shows. I'd prefer to just laugh at them and go on enjoying my happy average-looking life.

I watched "More to Love"...it was hard to get used to. In theory we should all appreciate watching "real" people compete for love, but isn't it more fun to watch the perfect ones make asses of themselves?

Never watched it but I've seen the rejects on talk shows, they kind of look like less attractive, trashier versions of sitcom stars.

if i'm not mistaken, didn't they have a show for plus sized women to compete for a heavy guy? i think it was called "more to love." i'm too lazy to look. i don't think it got good ratings and was only on for one season.

either way, i hate watching shows that include a group of women...anytime you get a bunch of women together in one place, they get catty and dramatic. yuck.

I don't really watch, but, for the Bachelor, I think I'd actually enjoy it more if the women were more "real." As for the men though, no, I like that they're perfect. :) How's that for a double standard?! :)
