Ok, so I am totally PMS ing right now. I wanted hear it ladies, what do you crave when you are PMSing? Right now I am craving Papa Gino's Pizza, sour cream and onion chips, and M&M's. I am totally not suppose to be eating bad right now, I don't have much left to lose...but still....

Or do you not crave at all and get emotional? Angry? Clingy? Bloated? Fatigue? I figured this would be an interesting transition from all the equality talk lately. Lets talk about what makes us women....fucking periods!

Uuuhhhhmmm, I think I am guna piss you off again, but here it goes.

PMS, is a symptom that something is not working, not right.

It is a vitamin deficiency, specifically the B vitamins.

Sugar, leaches important vitamins and nutrients from our system, specifically the B vitamins.

Like caffeine leaches calcium.

I used to have wicked PMS, and went to several doctors. I got everything from, “yah you’re a woman, so…” to “here take this prescription”

Then I went to a doctor, trained in Canada, who is also a nutritionists. She simply said, stop consuming sugar and caffeine. And taught me, in greater detail, what I outlined above.

So, I went, in one month mind, from knock me on my ass cramps, and wild mood swings, breakouts on my face, food cravings, depression …. To … hardly even noticed my cycle has come around.

Excedrine has caffeine in it, so if you need sugar and caffeine to help with a migraine, might wanna try the Excedrine with your pancakes!

Hmmm...I use caffeine to treat my "PMS" migraines. It's the only time I have coffee anymore. Half a cup takes the edge off. That is my only symptom though and I don't think I can do anything about it. Appears to be genetic. Fortunately it is pretty easy to treat. But I always like pancakes with a migraine, especially when I get a pregnancy migraine. Mmmm...I think it's part of the treatment.

I used to have go home sick from school every month because my cramps were so bad when I was younger!

The contraceptive pill I was on for most of my adult life was awesome, very rarely had cramps or PMS. Then they stopped making it :(

I've tried various different ones, but given up taking them now coz none of them were any good.

I get awful cramps and headaches and my temper is insane!!

Luckily, the last 2 periods I had weren't too bad, so fingers crossed for the next one!

Interesting JuLeah.
I've never had cramps, cravings, or mood swings.
In fact, that's why I suspected I was pregnant with my son. It was so out of character for me to have pms that I knew something was off.

I don't drink caffeine and I don't overdo sugary foods.
I would have never connected those two things; I just thought I was lucky.

I don't crave anything specific. Just KFC maybe. I get bloated and achey and everything pisses me off.

Yeah, no to excedrin. Acetaminophen and aspirin have never worked for my headaches. They need some ibuprofen in there yo. There is nothing I miss more right now. Maybe I should just stir the advil into my coffee to save time.

Cannot wait to pop this baby out and try the new night time Advil with sleep aid. I almost want a post-baby migraine just to check it out. Will have to make sure the husband is on alert for the baby though. HA. Pump bottle, take meds, dead to the world. Sounds like a plan.

Have to say, I'm kind of scared to try a different drug because Advil works so well for me. What if it didn't work? omg. What is in excedrin anyways? Hmmm...guess I'll look that up.

Ive got to get a few things tested in relation to this so I will ask him what he thinks , if not we have a free nutritionist down at the health centre I will see what she has to say :)

Anyway you have inspired me NOT to make another batch of cupcakes haha.

@Loureen ... not sure a doctor will know anything about this ... most don't ... I saw a woman who was both a medical doctor AND a nutritionists, but I am not sure how common that is .... most family doctors know next to nothing about nutrition .....

Thanks JuLeah, I've never realized that. I've never had bad periods though. Mine are typically pretty light and I've never experienced bad mood swings or strong cravings. During my third trimester...both times...I had STRONG cravings for ice cream.

I'm sitting here with a heating pad on my stomach, head pounding, doped up with midol and looking for a fight (and chocolate.) Periods are WONDERFUL! My husband and kids won't even look at me sideways right now and the dog leaves the room when I come into it. What is it my husband said last night? Oh yeah! "You're like a rabid dog right now...I'm gonna buy you a muzzle" Guess who was in the dog house last night....

JuLeah I found that very interesting because I never used to have a problem with PMS , I never craved anything or had mood swings.

Lately , I crave sugar and I just spent th last few days sobbing for no reason ( except my period) and being unusually angry.

I am off to the doctor about it later so I will ask about what you mentioned.

For the week leadin up to my period i crave sweet food. It doesn't have to be sugar sweet but baked vege's and the way they go sweet works just fine. I also get bloated but other then that i don't notice any changes.

:) I never tried pancakes for a migraine ... I used to get them about once an week and took everything suggested. One day, the just stopped.
It was the day I asked for a divorce. This made my doctor laugh. He said migraines happen for many different reasons, and he had suspected the cause of mine, but had not wanted to say anything.

I say, whatever works!
