"Tehran Court rules 25-year-old woman convicted of adultery must be executed despite pregnancy. Her lawyer hopes to have sentence ‘commuted’ to lashing

An Iranian court has sentenced two more women to death by stoning, a human rights group reported Thursday, adding the horrific sentence was made worse by the fact that one of the women was pregnant.

Maryam Ghorbanzadeh was recently convicted of adultery and although she is pregnant, was sentenced by an Islamic court to death by stoning"

Oh yeah and what is considered 'adultry' can be something as innocent as walking down the street with another man.

Iranian women need to go on a rampage over there, that is fucked. I agree with the others too, this conviction is probably a load of shite like walking down the street with another man.

This disgusts me. Even a girl who is raped will be stoned to death if anyone finds out. Iran has one of the worst reputations for their treatment of women.
I wish we could tie elastic bands around all the men's testicles and leave them out in the cold night air for their gonads to freeze and fall off.
If only women were in control. Think of how many men would be stoned to death if it were women who called the shots.
Sick and I hope Amnesty international can do something to help these women.

All you need to get a conviction of adultery against a woman in Iran is four people to "claim" they saw her with another man. That's fucked and it shouldn't happen.

In these cases if they can escape it is considered a sign that they are innocent, however the man is buried to his waist but the woman to above her chest in theory so that the the stoners don't have to see her body but obviously this makes it far easier for the men to get away.

I actually read about a recent case where both the woman and the man she cheated with were sentenced to stoning. I think in most cases it is usually the woman who is persecuted.
When i was in highschool i was reading a National Geogrpahics book with a story about a young girl. I don't recall which country she was from but she was approximately 10 years old. A neighbour broke into the house while the family was away and the girl was at home alone. He raped her and when the family got home and found out what had happened they beat her with in inches of her life. They disowned her because she was 'damaged goods'. They believed it was her fault because she must have been giving off sexual signals to him in order to make him rape her.

The baby isn't on trial. WHY would they kill the baby too? Ugh I hate the laws there. How unjust.

i agree that it is harsh and one-sided..if they are going to stone her while she is pregnant i hope the father is just a stones throw away waiting his turn....im pretty sure she didnt get pregnant by one of the other women they are going to kill...

Seriously - I almost don't have an issue with adulterers being put to death. Except that over there its always women, always with specious evidence, its crap.
