SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Till death do us part? The vow would really hold true in California if a Sacramento Web designer gets his way.

In a movement that seems ripped from the pages of Comedy Channel writers, John Marcotte wants to put a measure on the ballot next year to ban divorce in California.

The effort is meant to be a satirical statement after California voters outlawed gay marriage in 2008, largely on the argument that a ban is needed to protect the sanctity of traditional marriage. If that's the case, then Marcotte reasons voters should have no problem banning divorce.

He should also suggest a bill that enforces huge ridiculous fines on adulterers and makes them register under some marriage offenders site....haha...now that would help the fight to maintain the sanctity of marriage...

Hahaha...sarcasm is not dead...misunderstood and waivering over the heads of a certain few...but it lives on happily for those of us who get the point.

Quoting Esther:

Can you imagine nobody in Hollywood being allowed to divorce anymore :))

Well, I think the wedding planners would go out of business, because I am thinking no divorce would mean people wouldn't get married in the first place.  And after all, divorce and remarriage is the reason Wedding Planner has become a career!!

People are apparently really up in arms about this...why don't people understand satire anymore? I mean, conservatives seem to quote Thomas Paine quite a bit, do they really think he advocated eating the poor and your own children? Clue phone's ringing, pick it up, it's for you!
