SHe is 18 yrs old and has had problems with learning as we thought, and we even spent money to have her tested. SHe has a small ADD problem but can do well when she wants too. I have been in her life since she was 2 yrs...yes i am the 2nd Mom, the first mom walked out when she was 1 in a half yrs old. I have always been there for her as I am a Mother too. AT the time I started dating her Dad my youngest was 20yrs old. SHe has pretended she eigther dont understand , and uses the term"I DONTknow" for everything and its old...... She will go behind my back and play the baby rule with her dad and thinks i am the B all the time, cause I make her step up to the plate and do what she needs to do, grades, housework, cleaning and helping around the house. HElp....

Still in high school? I graduated when I was 18. Something about my birthday falling too late in the summer. Forgive me if I am missing the mark, but what does age have to with this???

Well, you're doing the right things by making her pitch in and be a contributing member of the family. She may think you're a bitch right now but in a few years she will thank you for it. I was about 20 when the fog cleared and I realized my parents had been right my whole life and were in fact, not stupid at all and that I owed them not only an apology but much gratitude. It sounds like you need more help with your husband backing you up. You are not 2nd mom, you are Mom.

My son's birthday is in late October so we had the choice to start him early or late. We were told it was better to wait because they would be more mature and better able to handle social interactions and problem solving with peers as they got older. So he is 18 also and still in school. I don't know if that makes you feel any better or not...

Keep up the good work. Find a positive outlet for yourself. You definitely need and deserve some "Lori Time" every day!

she is already 18, a ten adult. it is her decision to do what she wants. if she still wants high school degree, I would do what ever you can and help her finish high school. there are charter school that has no age limit. also, She can take GED test. Be prapared that she may not want to. we have to respect that and graceully let it go. good lluck.
