Today Melissa Jacob, an activist giving a statement on behalf of climate campaigners, said: "This case gets more murky every day. Did PC Kennedy have sexual relations with Anna to obtain information for the British state? If so, then this looks like state-sponsored sex abuse.

"The Met really cannot stay silent on the role of undercover officers in policing protest. How many more PC Kennedys are there in our movement?"

If an agent is undercover is it wrong for him to engage in sexual relations with the people he/she is observing?

She was over the age of consent, she was not coerced in to sleeping with him, there is no allegation that he mistreated or abused her mentally or physically, she willingly had a relationship with a man who she suspected was sleeping around and only complained years later when she found out he was a cop. Tough, get over it. To call this sexual abuse is an insult to those who have really been abused.
To send a man undercover for that length of time there must have been a suggestion of serious criminal activity. If this man sleeping with people means he gathers intelligence that keeps the general public safer then carry on. If an agent had slept with a member of al queda and gained intelligence that would stop a terrorist attack would anyone complain about how he got that information?

While I feel he acted inappropriately given his position as an officer, but when acting undercover, you are always working.
It appears he became too close to his sources, started to feel bad about his involvement and came clean.
She feels like she was used, after the fact, she was 21, she consented, she chose to have sex over 20 times with him.... and now she cries abuse? Insulting to anyone who has been abused by someone who is in a position of authority. She doesn't have a case.
What is more interesting to me is whether or not he acted as agent provocateur. Which I find more disturbing than who he was banging when undercover, using an agent provocateur looks far worse for the MET than an agent who can't keep it in his pants for the 7 years he worked undercover.

The other thing I was thinking about was that he was undercover for 7 years! What if he wasn't using sex to get information? What if he just wanted to have sex? Can you imagine going 7 years without having sex?
