Taller or shorter?

Here is something a little different to debate or chat about...
Is your husband/partner taller or shorter then you? If he is shorter could you or would you ever be with someone shorter then you? For me I couldn't. I like my man to be taller then me. I want to be able to wear heals on date nights. I would much rather look up to my man then be looking down on him. If he is taller would you rather him be shorter then you?
This is just something for fun!

I'm 5'8" and I've only dated someone shorter than me in high school. I didn't like feeling like a giant next to him, so it was kind of a turn off. My husband is 5'11", which is a nice difference. I have to tilt my head up to kiss him, but I don't have to strain my calf and neck muscles to reach his face!

I'm just under 5'3" and I've always preferred taller men. My ex husband was not very tall...only about 5'10, but it was a nice height difference. I like my men at least 6'0" and taller...like most of the ladies here I like to look up at my man and they've got to be big...NO skinny men.. (not fat either...but stocky or muscular)...

He's got to be taller then me! I love high heels and I think it would just be weird looking my hubby straight in the eyes or looking down...my dh is 6'2" and I am 5'5" so I'm pretty happy lol.

i'm 5 ft. 2 in and my hubby is 6 ft. my oldest sons father was 6 ft 5 in and it was quite dfficult to have sex with him, or kiss standing up. so i don't like them too tall. i've never found a man shorter than me, but if i did, i don't think i would like it that much. as long as he's 5 ft 3in. up to about 6 ft 1, it's perfect for me.

.....but like I always say - we're both the same height laying down.

LOL...bumsexer. But that would depend on the proportions of the guy too. My hubby is modestly tall (5'10"), but he's really long-waisted. I'm tall-ish too, but am more evenly proportioned. So the spooning (no bumsex!) works out well for us.

See this thread is fun and everyone seems to have there own opinions and it doesn't seem to bother anyone! I have been enjoying reading what all of you have posted and your reasons why. It just goes to show you we are all different even though we are all moms. My husband is 6 feet and I am 5"4 so its a good height difference between the 2 of us. I have never dated or been with anyone shorter then myself or real close to my height. I think the shortest guy I was ever with is 5"10(or at least thats what he said). I like my guys tall dark and handsome. Just what I married!

I am 5.10 ( I think 1.78 anyone?)and Paul is 6.1 ( he tells me) so he is taller but if I would wear heels we would be the same height. anyway I never wear heels because I look like a GIANT and I can't walk....

I like my man big and and tall so I look smaller myself :-))

It doesn't matter once you're lying down! hehe!

When guys would bug me about how short I am, I would say "I'm the perfect height on my knee's."

They would change their tone and I'd tell them "No, no it's fine, I'm too short for you."

And they'd realize they shot themselves in the foot lmao

So....I had never dated anyone shorter than me...and at 5'8" it was pretty important to me! I always said I would NEVER date anyone shorter than me, and I meant it...it weirded me out. Then...I met Travis...and suddenly, height seemed not to matter at all anymore. Don't get me wrong...he's only half an inch or so shorter...but I almost never wear heals anymore, and the ones I wore in our wedding were REALLY low...One of the cutest pictures from that day is him standing on his toes to "kiss the bride"...It just doesn't matter to me anymore...I met the man of my dreams, and it turns out that has everything to do with what's inside, and nothing to do with what's outside!

Quoting Erin:

I'm 5"10 and I'm afraid I'm with Cathy on this one. I have never been out with a man shorter than me, and really can't see it ever happening. My ex (Milla's father) is 6"2 and all of my exes have been over 6". I just can't feel attracted to a man who is shorter than me. It would feel weird, and make me feel like even more of an Amazon :-p

I felt this way too for a long time, but I guess my question is if you met someone that you really liked and felt a connection with, but who was an inch or two shorter than you, would you write him off?

I don't like feeling like an amazon either, but my husband while 5'9" is a sturdy guy, big hands, muscled arms...so he doesn't make me feel like I'm some kind of Sasquatch, so it works for us. And for the record, it doesn't matter when you're lying down! :D

I'm 5 foot, Devon is 6 foot. I've only met 1 man smaller than me and he was a little person. Thinking back... I don't think I've ever dated anyone that was under 6 feet tall.

I hate it when I'm thicker than a guy though... that bugs the hell outta me... I don't care if he's tall or short but he can't be skinnier than me. I just feel like a fatso and like I'm gonna crush him if I hug him lmao

well i am only 5'1 so i've never really come across a guy who's shorter than me. i do tend to prefer them taller though, my boyfriend is 6'1. i once dated a guy who was only 5'7 and it felt awkward to me because i'm used to dating taller guys, everyone else has been 5'10 and above. i would never discount dating someone because they are short but i definitely have a preference for the tall ones.

6:17 pm I liked them tall also. Im about 5 2 or so - and i felt awkward around shorter guys - my hubby is 5 10 - and around 200 lbs - but when i first met him it was major muscle - he hasnt been in the construction trade in a long time- so his muscle mass depleted a bit -- but he is still the right height and weight for me. I like big arms wrapped around me -- and for me, its partially a sexual thing - i want that strength to hold me tightly and close - at the right times.... maybe that is TMI - but its a big part of it. With short guys it just seemed like they were a kid - hence partly why i didnt date guys younger than me either - it was too awkward.
Between this thread and the oral sex one, it's no wonder you've got a big family. :) lol It's good to see a couple have a lot of kids and have a healthy sex life!

I'm just picturing Sarah hugging her husband -- it would almost look x-rated! LOL! I don't care if a guy is shorter than me as long as it's not a HUGE height difference. I'm 5'7" and Keith is 5"10, so that's just a nice difference, in my opinion.

My husband and I are both 5'3". He's the only guy I ever dated who was my height or shorter, though it's really more of an accident in that I never met another guy I liked who was short than a purposeful thing. I've dated all sorts of physical "types," from in shape to painfully thin to fat to short to tall to blonde to black haired to flame engine red hair...My only stipulation with physical appearance is that I have to find the guy attractive, and apparently I find all sorts of men attractive. lol I do remember liking the feeling of being hugged and held by extremely tall guys, but it wasn't important enough to decide who I would end up with.

I am 5'7", so can be quite tall with heels on, but I rarely wear heels, and when I do, they are not really high ones :). My hubby is 6'. But I have dated men around the same height as me (shorter if I wear heels), and it doesn't bother me that much.

I'm just barely 5'1" and my fiance is short for a guy, but still taller than me by a lot at 5'8". I couldn't date a guy shorter than me lol because that'd be one short dude :-D Plus even if I was taller, I just think looking up to your guy is nice :-D

I am barely over 5'1 and my husband is 6'3. I dated all types of guys..though I never met one that was shorter than me, but on average the majority of the guys I dated were tall...over 6'0...and I prefer them in shape with dark hair.

I'm 5'9" and like Laura, I like my men big. Hubby is 6'4" and 260 lbs. I've dated shorter guys and skinnier guys and it just didn't feel right.

I'm 5'4'' and Dan is 6'0''. Not too many guys have been shorter than me so I never found it to be an issue. I like my guys to be bigger in general with both height and weight. It just happens that most of my relationships have been guys who are around 6'0'' and 220-240lbs. I dated a really skinny guy once and I felt like I was going to break him LOL.

I, too, like taller men. Not much of a problem for me though. I do have two tall (6ft) friends and they also want taller men. They are both with men that are also 6ft, so they wear flats!

I always liked tall guys, being tall myself (5'11"), but I ended up marrying a man who is 5'9". Honestly, it doesn't bother me. My sister is 6'1", and her husband is 5'9" as well. I don't think it really matters...I don't wear heels anyway, but my husband being shorter than me wouldn't stop me from wearing heels if I wanted to. Everyone is attracted to different things and when I was younger I thought I would end up with a man taller than me, but I found my husband and he's my soulmate, I'm not going to let a couple of inches stop me from being with someone whom I love and is a wonderful husband. If someone ever wrote someone of automatically just for being shorter than you, that's kind of shallow, IMO.

On a side note, Sarah, I didn't realize you were such a wee person! :)

I'm 5'3", my husband is 5'10". Like Sara, I'd be hard pressed to come up with a guy shorter than me (although not as unlikely as her!), so it's not something that has ever come up. Although I can wear heels, as a clog-addicted nurse, I hate them, and, on the rare occasion I wear them, they're off, and I'm barefoot for the remainder of the evening!
