I love Rachel Maddow. She's a real journalist.

I don't have tv (by which I mean cable or dish of any kind), and I heard ALL about both of these "scandles"...you don't need to be a follower of any particular news medium to have heard that Acorn was shut down over this, or that global climate change was proven "false" by this made up nonsense! All you had to do was have a pair of ears! Maddow debunked it; good for her. She never said that ALL conservatives believed the stories, just that the most vocal ones did, and spread the rumors and lies...some of them while KNOWING they were rumors and lies. This IS problematic, precisely because most Americans don't do their own research (liberals and conservatives alike)...they just believe what they hear...and it's only getting worse. My college students are hopelessly clueless!

Nicole, where exactly do you get you from then? The Acorn "scandal" and "climatgate" where pretty big news. Even up here in Canada I heard about it on our news networks.

Actually, that was one of the biggest reasons I was offended. I thought the whole thing Maddow talked about looked highly unbelievable and I don't know any one of the Conservatives I know that would believe it. I also felt she was being judgmental to the Right as a whole.

Sadly, I have felt left out in the options for politicians that meet my wants and needs for a very long time. In most cases, Democrats (Liberals) do not support my personal beliefs and the Republicans have been too busy playing politics with the Democrats or fighting it out with them, rather than being true Conservatives. Frustrating at the very least!

Anyway... I didn't mean to offend, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that this is not everyone on the Right.

The only one lumping anyone together are the people who aren't voicing out against the people / instances that Maddow was pointing out. I find it absurd that anyone would be offended unless they are one of the people who are supporting those issues, believing those issues OR they are just letting that kind of crap to be entertained without seriously condemning people for believing the bull.

If anything Nicole, you should be offended by the people that give Maddow any reason to have to point these things out.

You say that you haven't heard about a lot of the things she mentioned. What do you think about the fact that there are people that do believe that? And that they DID make it into a huge issue? Does it bother you that there are people who call themselves "conservatives" and lump themselves in as "right wingers" who have done those things and said those things and actually believed that stuff? How do you feel about the fact that the people that made those things happen, that Maddow was talking about, ARE the people that get more coverage, exposure and sway than people like yourself and the conservatives you know that haven't even heard of those things?

Those are genuine questions, not poking.

Nicole, of course it won't apply to EVERY right leaning person. It is referring to the vocal, far right. I'm in Canada and they stand WAY out from the rest of you, even from up here.

They are the ones the more moderate right wingers need to condemn and discredit because they are making a mockery of conservatism.

First of all, I am a proud Conservative! Second, half of the crap Rachel is talking about I haven't even heard before! Not to mention, would I EVER believe. This is probably because I don't watch the FOX news network for the same reason I don't watch any of the liberal media news programs: They are all running their own agenda. Well... at least I don't watch either religiously and never take anything said by the journalists (Conservative OR Liberal) at face value. I research on my own and make decisions from my own research. Mostly because I look at both sides.

I am offended when others try to make Conservatives out to be idiots. (FOX news network is just as bad.) Just because I do not support Liberal politics/thinking does not make me stupid. My point: Please do not lump all on the Right with the idiots featured on FOX news. None of the Conservatives I know are like this.

Someone should probably call a certain scientist we all know and let her know that the scientists weren't lying, she can stop discrediting her own profession and start recycling again ;)

that is EXACTLY how I feel. I don't mind debate over public policy, I welcome it! But let's debate facts and real concerns, not made up shit! That is why I am so frustrated with how things have been over the past year. Get upset, but get upset over something that is actually grounded in fact and a real issue. **sigh**

I ♥ Rachel Maddow.

Holy god in heaven! Thanks RM...I can't stand liars...the conservatives who are hurting our country and destroying the possibility of a logical and interesting debate of REAL issues make me sick. I agree with...no threats, and no lies...we would all get along better and achieve more!

I adore Rachel Maddow with the heat of a thousand suns. Smart, articulate, professional, funny, well-versed in politics, and willing to call bullshit when she sees it.

And she's cute, too!
