True Story of a Nice Stranger

While we were on Vacation we stopped at a hotel for the night. IN the morning we packed up the van and them got our son all strapped in. 20 miles down the road my husband realized he left his laptop on top of the van when we took off. I called the hotel and they said they didn't see it in the parking lot. At this point I was pretty sure that even if we did find it on the side of the road it was going to be broken.

My husband turned around and as soon as we got back to the town we stayed at a man called our phone asking if we had lost a mac book. He had seen it and pulled over. He found the address book and my husbands phone number. He drove it back to us because we didn't know the area. He met us at a gas station. When he pulled up my husband was inside getting money from an ATM. He said he didn't want anything and started backing up. I said thank you about 20 times. Then he left. I couldn't believe that he found it and a Mac Book survived falling off the van at at least 30 mph.

Ok so I never thought of the kiddie porn thing. I checked I am clean.

We were in Springfield to see all of the Lincoln stuff.

That's so canny of him! And for those who are thinking wtf is "canny" it's a word us Geordies use to mean nice lol =]

@Kate - I'm not sure what happened - did someone put this stuff on your computer somehow? Anyway, I guess if something similar had happened to me I would have thought that way also.

Sharon.. Don't bash a MacBook.. I hated the dang thing when hubby bought it. I didn't want anything to do with it at all.. I could never go back to anything else unless I absolutely had to. I love it that much.

Jenn M: May not have crossed your mind but it was my first thought. I've been victimized this way before, so I'm a little hardened.

I'm surprised he didn't keep it for himself! There are some truly honest people in this world.

I can't believe you would seriously check for viruses and child porn! That thought wouldn't have even entered my mind. I would have just thought they were a nice person.

Warm, fuzzy story! I'm a realist, too, but don't think the average person could've done something malicious to the computer in that timespan. Just in case, it hurts nothing to do the check and confirm it was returned without malice.

Almost does restore my faith in people to do what's right.

May I ask whereabouts you were on vacation? Just curious, I won't try to follow you guys around hoping he drops it again;-) That is, should you vacation there again...

I'm a realist. ;)

It's not paranoia if people really are out to get you. :P

That was very nice of him...I'd still check the computer for viruses, spy bots, and child porn. You never know. :/
