I saw this on the news this morning, but I can't find a link.

They reported that the UK government was looking at censoring porn on the Internet, if your household required the use of porn website's, you could opt to do so. My question is that if a government has the power to directly target the pornography industry, why is there still child pornography available today. Why hasn't something been done?

How do you feel about censorship over the Internet in general?

There apparently are websites though. My guess is the government doesn't shut them down so they can catch people who look at them in the act of possessing child porn and arrest them.

Don't feel stupid for asking, I never knew that until one of my Facebook friends told me. It probably explains why Limewire has been shut down too. That or excessive music piracy that has been going on for years.

Child porn is mostly shared on file sharing networks such as Limewire etc. Censoring the WWW isn't going to solve the problem.

" It probably explains why Limewire has been shut down too."

No, you're second statement was right. It's shutting down b/c it disobeys the anti-piracy laws and people can download music for free. Never heard about the child pornography on Limewire.. That's sick!

Normal pornography isn't hidden...it's WAY out in the open, advertised as much as possible.

My thought is that if such a ban took affect it would be harder to catch regular pornographers as well.

My bigger question is when will they start deciding which political info should be censored.

If you were Obama, wouldn't you make FOX history?

lol, it's not about that Dana :) the question makes no sense because they are not the same thing, so like Emma said they can't sensor it like the port websites, because it's not held on a website!

Stop with the negative self talk. You're not a dingbat! I'm sure more people will comment sooner or later!

I know, I am a bit simple when it comes to technology so there maybe a justified simple answer but I just don't understand what the difference is?

That's a good question, Nikki! It doesn't make sense that they'd be able to regulate what you watch on the internet in your own home and still not be able to crack down on child pornography!
