Were your kids planned?

What I mean is, were you surprised, or did you try to have kids and plan it? Both of mine were surprises, we weren't trying. I wasn't supposed to even be able to have any, but had a lap done several years ago and after became fertile Myrtle.

No, she got throughout birth control. Meant to be I guess. Now she is 8 and we are just starting to plan her siblings. :)

Not at all! I had my daughter at 18. I'd just graduated highschool when I fell pregnant too at 17 lol. I'd been using condoms and was on the pill but neither worked. My daughter was just one hell of a determined sperm :D

No, none of them were.

#1 - condom and pill failed

#2 - Depo shot failed

#3 & 4 - TWINS. Failed pill and vasectomy

#5 - "I give up" baby.

- I intend to get the Essure done in the near future. If that fails, it will be a hysterectomy.

My son was a surprise.
His father was 18, and I was 17 when we conceived, so wasn't planning on having kids that soon!
Saying that, he was the best surprise I've ever had ♥

My first daughter was planned, although we got pregnant a LOT sooner than we expected...like the first month we tried! lol This second pregnancy we had been trying for another again...it took a bit longer..nearly a year...but here what we say. Aurora was planned...Dalilah came as a surprise! We were only trying for one and got twins! Doubly blessed! Hopefully soon they'll be home from the hospital and all my children, planned and surprise, can be under one roof with mommy and daddy!

[deleted account]

I had alot of miscarriages before I had my daughter so I really thought I'd never have a baby and should get used to the idea so although I wasn't using birth control and would welcome a baby, we weren't "trying". So when I got preg again at 33 years old I was so scared and afraid to be happy bc I knew I would lose her and be heartbroken. But, the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months and then at 39 weeks there she was, my little miracle, the one I had dreamed of for so long. : )
Then, thinking that lightening doesn't strike twice I didn't bother with little things like birth control after she was born and then when she was 5 months old the shock of my life came, I was pregnant again. And this time it was twins. We lost one of the twins but my baby boy Jadyn was born full term and was the best and biggest surprise of my life.

Yes and no. Before I had Ethan we were told by several doctors that we wouldn't have children naturally (both of us have fertility issues), so I was gong through the motions while always thinking that after all this we would adopt, as that was our option (I was told that by a doctor). I had an operation in November on my ovaries and fallopian tubes and by the February I was pregnant. A complete shock, I did 3 tests and still didn't believe it (one was an offical test at my doctors), I spent most of my pregnancy worried it would be took away from me :-) So although he was planned and we wanted him, we didn't think we could.

Baby no.2 we wasn't actively trying but not not trying, we didn't use birth control after Ethan was born, a year later we were pregnant and are due in June.

nope i was on the pill and taking it all correctly then 9 weeks later im sitting in a dr's office feeling like death because ive been what i think ravaged by some sort of god awful tummy bug and the doctor comes with a smile on his face and the blood test results and says "congratulations you're pregnant" and im like "i'm what!?" yeah i wont go into the rest

2 surprise 1 planned
1st time i was taking a break from pill injection (had been off for 18mths), we'd been together 5 yrs & oopsie :) so we got married (at 5mths preg) & started trying for #2 when our Son was 2yrs old. 3yrs later!! our Daughter was born, then 4yrs later Hubby decided he really didnt want more so i told him to get fixed! 1wk before his op i told him i was pregnant :D oopsie again. he went ahead with the op, we had another beautiful Daughter & neither of us could imagine life without our 3 kids ( Zane-10, Brooke-5 & Alani-9mths)

They were all planned but also surprises. I was spotting after my 2nd round of IUI with injectables, i was sure I wasn't pregnant but I was. Then we were trying and I got pregnant with my 4th(1st natural) and lost it because I didn't know i was pregnant. I was going for consults for IUIs again with in a week when i found out I was pregnant with my last 2 daughters!

Yes and no.

I had minor issues conceiving but did manage to conceive 3 times in 3 years. All miscarriages. So I said screw it, and we were going forth with adoption. I got pregnant again with no meds, but the meds were probably still in me. So my son's conception totally threw us for a loop. I miscarried in May '04 and got a positive pregnancy test June '04. So we were unsure if it was a new pregnancy or remnants of the old one. So yes, he was a surprise.

Conner was a total surprise (we'd only been together 3 months!) and Brooklynn was sort of a surprise...we knew we wanted another one, so I went off BC, figuring we'd have to try for a couple of months...but no no, I was preg within 2 weeks. That was the surprise lol.

[deleted account]

All 3 of mine were 'planned' as such. We knew we wanted them and were trying for them. They all took a little longer then we thought they would.

She was planned. It was a four month attempt. This next attempt has just entered month five. I wish I was able to just be surprised. The whole "not trying but not trying not to" thing doesn't seem to work for us.

[deleted account]

I only have one, he was planned. It took a little while to conceive, so we were surprised, but in my planning I made sure our plans were flexible enough to coincide with whatever timing we ended up with :)

my first was an accident, my other 2 were planned. i also had 2 other accidents before my first accident that ended is miscarriage. sigh, you'd think i would've learned after the first time. first time he pulled out, don't recommend that, lol. second time didn't use anything, obviously don't recommend that, after that ended in misscarriage i put myself on the pill, and we used condoms for the first 2 weeks, i got pregnant before i had my period again.

[deleted account]

None of mine were really planned though a few of them were dreams before realities. (make sense?)

[deleted account]

My son was a total surprise. In fact, I had been trying for a decade to get pregnant. Well, getting pregnant wasn't the hard part, it was staying pregnant I had a hard time doing. Anyhow, I was 35 and had just finally accepted and begun to feel ok with "just" being an aunt for the rest of my life. A month later, period's 2 days late, which NEVER happens, the stick said "Pregnant" (so did the 5 or 6 sticks that followed lol) and here we are 3 years later :)

Ours were planned surprises, lol. We wanted kids and were planning to have them, but I have PCOS and wasn't sure I'd be able to conceive at all, let alone quickly. So, although we weren't using any birth control, it came as quite the shock when I got pregnant in our first month of marriage! (We'd figured we'd start trying right away because we thought it might take a couple of years.) Then with the second, my period came back when our first was 9 months old and we decided to start trying again. But I had one period and then missed the next month although I wasn't pregnant, and ended up ovulating anyway and getting pregnant that month. Good thing for the nausea that clued me in at 6 weeks that I was pregnant or it'd have been much later before I realized it!
We're trying for #3 now, so this one most likely won't be a surprise.

My son was planned. We had trouble conceiving.....after 6 rounds of clomid he made his appearance, well sorta.

[deleted account]

My girl was not planned - i was just 19, and 20 when she was born. now that i have almost finished uni we are trying for another, as we do not want more than a 3 year age gap.

My first was not planned. It happened out of nowhere and fast, so it was a very emotional situation at the time. We were shocked, but things worked out. He is the best thing that ever happened to me. The second was planned. The third and final child, which I would love is only potential in my husbands eyes so far, so we shall see.

My first honestly was planned... I was 16 and thought if I had a baby then I'd be with my boyfriend forever. So I got pregnant on purpose, but ended up getting hit by reality and gave her up for adoption (and broke up with my boyfriend 7 months after she was born.

My second was a bit of both... I'd had a cancer scare which got my biological click ticking. I stopped taking my birth control, but after a couple of days freaked out and went back on the pill. I got pregnant during those couple days of missed pills.

And with my latest, we were trying for about 6 months until we got pregnant with her. Didn't think itd take that long, since I got pregnant my first tome having sex, and after missing a couple pills... I thought I was super fertile.

All surprises but we had always discussed kids from the moment we met ( most guys would freak right ? he brought it up haha) so when it happened I was a little freaked out at being young( 24 ) but wow what an experience , what an adventure .

My friend who is 23 planned her first baby and I think it is so sweet I don't know many people in real life that do plan it .

[deleted account]

The pregnancy w/ the girls was completely planned... the part about them being twins was a total shock though.

My son was planned, but about 2 years earlier than he came and my ex neglected to tell me that having another baby no longer fit into HIS plans until the baby was a month away from being born....

Mine was planned and then some. I decided to go off the pill in May of 2008. After that, I started charting. I didn't chart my temperature, but I did keep track of my periods, when we had sex and (TMI alert) my mucus. It wasn't to be obsessive about it, but I figured that IF we had problems, I would be able to bring that to the doctor to see if any useful information could be gleaned out of it. We conceived in November.

[deleted account]

We have 3 kids (our oldest who's 8 - my sd who lives with us full time - our 3 year-old and our almost 2 year-old) Neither of our youngest two were planned at all. In fact, if we hadn't gotten pregnant with #3 we probably wouldn't have had any more kids and stayed with just 2... I always say my Ellie is my little blessing :)

I've gotten pregnant 3 times and they were all while I was on birth control. The first 2 were while I was on the pill and the last one (whch ended up being a tubal and had to be aborted) was while I was on Mirena. I still have the Mirena, but now we're looking into steralization since we know we're done and we don't want (nor can we afford) any more suprises.

Kiera was planned and conceived the first month we started trying.

Emma was "planned" although she was planned to be conceived about 6 months later. She surprised us a little early but we had planned to start trying for her very soon anyway so she was just an early surprise. :)

no, none of my kids were planned. with my oldest, I actually got pregnant while on the pill and using protection. After I had my 2nd, we tried so we can keep them 2 years apart and didn't work out like that. We stopped trying and my youngest was born 3 yrs after my 2nd. (ages are 11, 9, 6)

Ah!! The first was not planned. The younger two were. But since we had been told I couldn't have kids (snicker!) we had been looking into various surgeries and adoptions. It was a matter of shifting resources at that point and coping with the problem that whenever I became pregnant, I became handicapped. Puking every hour and being weak from dehydration makes for a lousy work associate!
