When to stop breast feeding

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

What's the absolute latest you would allow breast feeding? My son is 8 and we are weaning but he is so angry about it. Is waiting til 9 detrimental? He begs for ninnies at nite.

In another post you wrote that you think you are doing it for your comfort and to remind you he is still a little boy. That is not healthy.

I cannot help but feel this is a troll post, but I am gonna take the bait.

Many parents self wean, but I find it very hard to believe an 8 year old is still bfing. That is pushing it way past most peoples comfort level. you have to do what is right for you and your son, but yeah I think 8-9 years is way to long and can be detrimental.

I don't know how I feel about this. I nursed twins to 3 1/2 and 4 1/2. By that time, they were nursing once a day, and only at home. There were limits.

But I agree with Shawnn, say no. Just like you would tell him no for other things, the same would apply for nursing.

Learn how to say no for god's sake, or you're going to be following him to college with a boob in his mouth.

I'm sorry, but this is taking 'attachment' parenting a bit too far. In your other post, you asked if it was appropriate to send it to school with him...he's been in school for a couple of years now, if he's 8, so what did you do before now?
