never bother to give out feedback when people reply. i think some people relish in the fact they have started an argument/debate especially when people disagree with what there debate is in the first place.

We all lead busy lives. Sometimes you have a thought, and cannot get back to the computer, or the thread is to busy to keep up with so they have to read a ton of pages. Sometimes it is just more about the question and all the answers for them. But yes, sometimes someone starts a debate just to see the fireworks. Those my friends, are called Trolls.

I agree with the other poster's here.

I would like to add another reason that I could see plausible.

Sometimes someone opens a debate and states their opinion, only to quickly see that they are in the minority with their thoughts. Some people cannot handle or do not want to debate when the majority does not agree with them. So, they move on.

Now me, I have been in the minority several times. The way I see it is I don't need everyone or anyone to agree with me. I feel the way I do for several reasons. Not everyone is able to accept being in that position, though.

Also, sometimes a person may not know how they feel and are just wanting to see what everyone else's side is. This may help them move toward a final decision of how they feel. Getting to see how other's see a certain topic, can at times, help a person make a decision of where they stand too. ;)

No Jaime, you are not a troll. Definitately there are plenty of times the OP clearly wants to hear from others, and not actually be a part of the thread....sometimes it is strictly to egg people on. It is usually pretty obvious.

I agree with Little Miss. Sometimes, and this is the biggest reason for me, is that a thread will blow up and I'll get completely lost.

i know i certainly don't relish in the fact that people are arguing. there's a difference between arguing and debating. unless i know my response would be completely flamed and the entire idea of the post would be smothered with people disagreeing with me, i tend to put my thoughts in the OP or in a post after a few people have replied. most of the time though i like to read what everyone has to say because i like to see all sides of the debate. i don't think that's trolling, is it? if it's to truly gain knowledge then i don't see how that's being trollish...

i'm also very busy at times and it's not worth it to reply to every single person when i finally get a chance to read every response. that would take forever and some people, like myself, respond to a thread and never look back, haha. so again, not really worth it to respond to everyone.
