Looking for tips to deal with a sassy 5 year old. I have tried time outs and taking something away of importance, so far it hasn't worked. Suggestions anyone?

it must be a 5/6 yo thing! My son is a back talker too :) I use the "When you do this, then you can do this" formula and it works for us. He is free to voice his complaints in a constructive manner (never allowed to say anything offensive) and is learning that it doesn't change our opinion on what we said. Good luck, Mommies!

It's just so frustrating when your child keeps on "but this" "but that" when you give instructions. I don't know what to do anymore so I banned the word "but" & she gets time out for using it!

I have the same problem. I am always taking away her Tv and video games and she still has an attitude. It actually has gotten better in the last 4 months or so but it is still an issue. I wish that I was able to help you.
