23 Month old will NOT sit to eat

Hey Everyone. My son will NOT sit through a meal at lunch/dinner. He absolutely hates to be in his booster seat. Tonight for dinner, and the last several nights he will sit there and scream through the whole meal. As soon as he gets down he is fine. We do not want him to get the idea that its okay to eat food and walk around. Anyone have any advice to help out or ideas to get the little man to sit a the table? At this rate, we'll never be able to even go out to eat, let alone have a quiet meal.

Maybe if he throws a fit and demands down, let him down, but do not let him take his food. If he figures out that he cant eat and run around the house he will sit in his chair and eat his food. If he still refuses, it wont hurt him to miss a meal. Make sure you tell him that if he wants to eat, he sits with the family.

It is a phase. He is testing you. You are in charge. Strap him in and ignore his tantrums. He will eventually stop. Til then, be strong! *hugs*

Like Christy said, the childrens table set really helps, except I sit on the floor and eat with my daughter at her table.

hiya my little girl was just like your son so we decided to take away the booster seat and let her sit on 'the big girls chair' that was about 2 months ago and now she sits and eats just fine.

I had the same problem. my daughter is a slow eater so she hates sitting at a table for a long period of time. So I got her her own princess table set, silver wear, plates...etc. She loved it! I would tell her that she could only sit at her princess table if she sat there and ate her food other wise no table. after a couple meals she had no problem sitting and finishing her meals at her very own table. So see if u can find a table ur son may like such as superman or something. they have all kinds at toys r us. Good luck

my little girl was the exact same but in the last 2 weeks she's watching everything we do and now will only eat at the table like the big girls. If he wants down let him but dont let him bring his food with him, it can be slow but it does work eventually
