Is anyone else having difficulty with this? My daughter has gone twice but now every time I ask her she says "no potty" and does not even make the effort on her own (the first two times she told me she had to go and went to the potty herself). I fear she will be in diapers forever and I have NO idea what to do to encourage her! I bought Once Upon a Potty and she adores the video- but apparently only watching it....advice if you have it please!

When my daughter was 12 months she peed in potty and then stopped completely 4 months later I let her bc I didnt want to push the issue bc she was only doing it before tub time. Now I put her on the potty and she loves sitting on it but will not go for the life of me. I dont understand either. I have tried the pretty undies and potty seat and singing potty and having her pee her pant and bribe, all does not seem to work, I have just came to realize that she will be ready when she is ready she knows what to do bc I ask her to put pee in potty and she pushes and gas comes out so she sure does try. So I think that some day a miracle will happen and she will just do it. :)

My daughter is in Daycare. We stared her on underwear this week, and hasn't had an accident at home or daycare since tuesday. Last night we went out to eat, and she peed on the toilet twice while we were there. When we got home she follow my into my bathroom (her bathroom has her toilet seat) and peed her pants while i was using the toilet. This morning I asked her to sit on the potty once I took her diaper off. a fewminuts after she got dressed (her choice) she pooped her pants.
I think all kids are goingto have a forward and backward momentum in the beginning of potty training. i think it helps to see others around them using the potty (parent, peers ect.)
I've been introducing my daughter to toilet training since christmas, we are taking it at a slow comfortable rate. I found some of the more succesful methods give her the most independece ie getting on the toilet herself, wiping herself ect.
hope this helps.

thanks ladies! I am going to keep trying of course and I think I will try with the big girl underwear like you suggested. She seems to know when she is going and has to go but she just will not wait for me to take off her diaper- i think it could be a security thing like you mentioned!

My little girl never really had troubles I had her trained about a week before she turned two...no diapers in the day or night...I just took them off got some "Dora" underwear and said you are a big girl now and that was that. she has never wet to bed and had an accident during the daytime once but we couldnt find the potty at the mall...the only thing I can think of is to take her shopping for "big girl" undies and make sure youtake her at the same time everyday to the potty, like as soon as she gets up and before lunch, etc. Thats what we did for my little girl. We didnt really bribe her just got her the undies she wanted. Good luck.

My daughter seems to notice that she can hold it in and she sits in the potty a long time and them stands up and asks for her diaper and pees in her diaper. She knows the concept I just understand that for her own security she feels safer doing it inside her diaper. That is just a mothers opinion.

I have done everything possible to encourage my daughter and nothing works:( she is so... interested. She constantly takes off her pants an diaper and sit on the potty she just never goes. I don't think she gets it and don't know exactly how to explain it to her. I have just noticed that she goes in her diaper and then pulls it off and sits on the potty. I don't know how to explain to her that she has to sit on the potty "before" see goes and not "after" I have told her this many time and she doesn't get it at all. I am very frustrated and i guess I just need to give it time.

My little one won't go for me at all though she has at nursery... she has started holding it in and wants a nappy (diaper) on to go, i think i'm going to leave it for a while not worried as of yet they get it when they are ready I think
