You can do the back to bed technique of supernanny fame, do stories and kiss goodnight and leave the room. Then just keep returning her without saying anything (you can say its bedtime darling or something similar the first time but after that don't get drawn into conversation) until she gives in. Sit outside the door and do it every time she comes out. She will go mental at first but it only takes a few days and she should be ok.

We talk about how big boys go to bed on their own and have a specific routine before bedtime so it is special (hugs, kisses, special handshake). It doesn't always work, but most of the time he does great

Gosh, when you get an answer I want one too. :O) I can't give you anything that's worked for me because my 3 year old is like yours--she falls asleep with my husband or I lying by her or watching a show with us and then we carry her up to bed. I bought a sleep sense thing that's supposed to get them to go to sleep without you in 10 days but it takes some crying, resolve, and consistency, and I haven't been successful with that. Good luck!
