How does a mom handle other people who love comparing their kids to hers?

My daughter and I were taking our weekend jog in the neighborhood one day when a lady asked how old my daughter was. Being in a place where it's discourteous to ignore somebody who asks politely, I said "she's three". Then suddenly the lady blurted out that my daughter was small for her age unlike her granddaughter. It really freaked me out, but I made no comment. I wanted to lecture her about genetics, but I realized it would be a waste of time to convince closed-minded people. So my daughter and I excused ourselves and continued jogging,.. wrong turn..another mom saw us and asked what my daughter can do since her daughter was also 3 years old and can do a lot of things. Presuming where the conversation will lead to, I just smiled again and we continued to jog.

To mum K.R., the first post was like "WOW" (Lol), it also shuts me up, until I read the second post. Thanks for responding. At least I feel relieved that situations like that aren't uncommon at all. I guess there are still people who haven't learned the truth yet about human development.

Lol, so in truth the only thing she knows are her alphabet, colors and shapes, and even those are a recent development. But that's what I tell people when they start to compare. It shuts them up.

What can she do? Well, my three year old can recite the alphabet in 6 languages, knows her colors, numbers, shapes, states and capitals, can recite the presidents and vice presidents in order, forwards and backwards and their years in office, she reads 6 books a day, 2 of which are required to be in a foreign language, all while riding a unicycle balancing a fruit basket on her head.
