my experience is that they should be atleast 2 before training.. your daughter should.. be able to hold urine - diaper will have longer periods of dryness, the ability to pull pants down.. my son was not very verbal either but he was trained - taught. i used an intense 2 day training method.. but i would wait til age 2.. she needs to be able to sit on the potty with books, toys for a good 5-10 min.. then you will know she is ready to train.

i've been told that girls usually start potty training earlier than boys. i'd say that if she acknowledges when she needs to get changed, the next step is to help her acknowledge when its going to happen. i guess i can't offer much advice as i've never potty trained before. i'm slowly introducing the idea to nicolai. he already has a 'big boy toilet' and sits on it, or he'll point to his diaper and then to the toilet, but he hasn't tried to use it yet. there's definitely parents who have potty trained their children much younger than 19 months. there's been books written on it, tho i haven't personally read any of them, just kno from friends who've used those particular methods.
