How does this stay on TV?! It seems like it would over-stimulate children, and it's just generally creepy! Am I the only one, or is there something wrong with this show?

I remember the first time I saw the show I called my bestfriend who has a daughter a little older than my son and said "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?" I seriously think it was intended for being tripping on acid or something. I don't see very much educational material in it.

Yes I find the show weird, but it will hold my sons attention for a little bit (which most shows do not). I do find the characters (how do I say this tactfully) a bit on the sexual innuendo side. Especially the orange (male part) and pink (female part) ones. But I know the kids don't know that or see it, so I let it side. But it does make me laugh when I see them, as did my hubby when he walked in and saw it.

I think Yo Gabba Gabba is punchy and fun...not every child learns the same and not every parent teaches the same. For some of the people on this forum who feel their thought it the right way need to relax and let people have their questions and answers without the judgement! Unfortunately my area does not carry Yo Gabba Gabba so I will DL it on the computer and save it to dvd or just watch it with my daughter, she stills gets one on one time learning besides watching this one program.

my daughter LOVES it she's 20 months n shouts "yo gabby gabby" when it comes on,
the message it give's is quite good the other day we was watching 1 n they were singing that it's bad 2 hit your friends,
it's just the very odd guy in the bright orange suit that creeps me out, they should sack him.

And why do all kids shows need to be in baby talk voices? It's obnoxious! It's not soothing it's plain creepy and makes children learn to speak in baby talk!

I hate all baby shows and videos for babies and toddlers. I feel like they are making children retarded. Yes they may have bright colors and Mozart playing inthe back ground but the puppets and silly scenes make my son give me dirty looks. Even at 6 months he refused to watch shows like Baby Einstein. Personally, if you are going to let your child watch TV what's wrong with letting them watch a show like Sesame Street or Disney movies where the people have real conversations and vocabulary and actually have a plot to follow? At least in these shows and movies, the child is getting the same stimulation as a book you're reading or it's the same as when you talk to your child. These infant and toddler made things just don't reinforce full vocabularies and sentences to me. And I have seen every Baby Einstein made since my girlfriend only allows her son to watch them and I baby sit him a lot and he has been taught to watch one to relax for bed. It works for him but my son refuses to watch them because they are just not stimulating. He wants characters and different voices and action not running water and random words like "one" and "rain" being shouted when the scene changes.

I agree it IS weird and creepy. It looks like someone tripping on drugs in the 70's wrote it, that jumpsuit is WAAAY too tight for a grown man to be wearing (forget the fact that he's a grown man and he's even wearing a jumpsuit), and most of all the beginning where DJ Lance peeps up over the table literally makes me shiver a little - BUT, all that being said my 20 month old LOVES it! And he doesn't really even like TV. Every night at 9:30 that is the only way to get him to sleep. I thought the same thing - way too active - especially for bedtime - but apparently the creepiness of it all mesmorizes him to sleep? I agree with the Ruby & Max comments too. I hate it and so does my son. And where is their mom? Is the 7 (or however old she is) year old sister raising the brother?

I don't like it at all! My daughter will watch it occasionally, but not very often. It was the only show ever on the TV in her old neurologist's waiting room...hmmm.

Yeah - Max and Ruby just has no point, my son doesn't even like it, really. And I know Yo Gabba Gabba can have good messages, but it needs to be done more subtly. And then they have some bands on there (like a strange, robot asian rock band?) that could be left out.

I think that it's a great show and my daughter loves it. It has great messages and learning tools paired with music, fun cartoons and graphics. Now Max and Ruby - that's a show that should not be on TV - absolutley horrible in every way!

My husband feels the same, but i love it. And so does my daughter. She has learned SOOO much from that show. If you actually sit and watch a whole show they teach very good things to kids. Not to bite friends, to keep trying, saying please and thank you, no to be afraid of the dark, etc. They also have some famous guest on there, Jack Black, Tony Hawk, the AquaBats, Mia, Eiljah Wood. and so on. LOL. Can you tell i know ALOT about the show.
