My son just turned 2, I want to potty train him...

In the morning his diaper is usually dry and I think he is ready to start potty training. The problem is, he won't sit on the potty without a fight! What can I do to keep him still??

I have the potty training course info if you would like to read it can email it to you...I persoanlly have not tried it yet as my son is tooo wet in the mornings. when they are waking up dry that is the time to start (so i have been told). Casey does however enjoy sitting on the toilet I have a ladder seat and a thomas seat depends which loo he goes too. He has only ever gone once in the loo, (I keep new hot wheels cars in the bathroom cupboards so if he does I he can have a prize...) Good luck I am sooo sick of nappies tooo

Toys and books that he only gets when he sits on the potty. And when he does, give a positive reinforcement like a sticker.

first off good luck :-)

I have just potty trained my daughter it took just over 2 week's (i started just before she turned 2) I have had potties around for age's and she never seemed really up for it so i got her a step and a toilet seat, she love's it i ask her if i can help her and she'll say "no i do it" I also got har a sticker chart and peppa pig pant's. when she wee's in the toilet i tell her mummy has a big smile and she dose it back, when she dose it on the floor i say that give's mummy a sad face lol (well it works 4 me )

at first i was putting nappies on for bed and pull ups on when we was going out but i found she just got confussed, i was really upset and i felt like i'd put her a huge step back so my advice to you is bin the lot and dont look back, buy a load of kitchen role and cleaning spray take a few changes of clothes out with you, buy a couple of set's of extra bedding and protective sheet's.
my little girl has had the odd accident (ie once a week) but she's come such a long way in such a short time i'm so proud of her and myself :-)
again good luck if you put in the hard work it will pay off x

I am having a similar problem with my son, he hates the potty, I have decided not to pressure him and just leave it in the lounge room where he can see it and get used to seeing it, then in a bit I will try sitting him on it again, it that doesnt work a friend of mine suggested a seat you put on the toilet seat so they dont fall in, as it has worked for her because her son sees her sitting on the toilet. Good luck I hope what ever you try works for you.

you could try reading him a book to get him to sit on it. or put a sticker on the potty of his favourite thing(like thomas etc). my son has just turned 2 and these are some things that help me get him to stay on the potty :) and also looooots of praise even if he only sits there for a short while!!good luck :)
