you put your cart somewhere and if you have parishable items such as ice cream tell a clerk pick him up and leave!!!! he will get the point the more times you just leave everything there!

My son does the same thing, I also try to distract him by helping and letting him hold things for me and help me, but when he gets really bad such as throwing anything I give him and just screaming, I know it is hard, but I tell him to stop it and if he doesnt calm down i will not talk to him, and I ignore him, after a bit he gives up and likes to help again. I wish you luck with you little one.

I have this same problem! Im going to try the helping out thing! Cause it stresses me out when he screams like that in public! I always just end up leaving! I hate disturbing people!

Hey I have one just like that! It's embarassing has heck isn't it? Little rascals never do that till the store is quiet. Anyway I feel your pain but It does help them to think that they are helping. As I go up and down the isles I point out things to her, like that's a red box , do you see an apple, etc. not only is she learning but it keeps her from screaming and she thinks that she is a big girl when she puts things in the buggy! Good luck and if all else fails there is probably duct tape on isle 9 ! just kidding :)

You can try to bring along a toy or a small snack. My daughter would scream b/c she wanted to play with the groceries but then I started to bring her favorite toy with us to shop for groceries or anything else for that matter and now she's entertained while im busy shopping. Good Luck.

I let the kids help put things in the cart too. I've heard that if you talk in a whisper that the screamer will calm down because they want to hear what you are saying, it has never worked for me, but you never know. Sometimes I just have to power through and ignore the looks I'm getting from people.
